Culture Singer Bob Dylan sued for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12-year old girl in 1965

Bob Dylan has been sued for sexual assault. He is vehemently denying the allegation.

The "Like a Rolling Stone" singer, 80, is accused of grooming a 12-year-old girl over a six-week period between April and May of 1965. According to the complaint obtained by Yahoo Entertainment, the singer "befriended and established an emotional connection with the plaintiff," identified only as J.C., while living at his Chelsea Hotel apartment in New York City.

The lawsuit accuses Dylan, born Robert Zimmerman, of sexual abuse "coupled with the provision of drugs, alcohol and, threats of physical violence, leaving her emotionally scarred and psychologically damaged to this day." J.C., a 68-year-old woman now living in Greenwich, Conn., claims she's the victim of "one or more criminal sex acts."

Although the alleged crimes happened more than 50 years ago, the lawsuit was filed under 2019's New York Child Victims Act, which extends the statute of limitations for a survivor of child sexual abuse in criminal and civil cases. J.C. is attempting to recover damages as she suffered "severe psychological damage and emotional trauma caused by Dylan's wrongful and criminal acts."

J.C. claims to have suffered depression, humiliation, economic losses and anxiety as a result of the abuse and purportedly sought medical treatment.

"Dylan's predatory, sexual and unlawful acts against Plaintiff amounted to a series of harmful and offensive contacts to Plaintiff's person, all of which were done intentionally by him to her without her consent," J.C.'s lawyer, Daniel W. Isaacs, says in the document.

Dylan "exploited his status as a musician by grooming J.C. to gain her trust and to obtain control over her as part of his plan to sexually molest and abuse J.C.," the complaint reads. The Grammy-winning musician is accused of giving her alcohol and drugs on numerous occasions, which lead to her being sexually abused "multiple times."

A spokesperson for Dylan tells Yahoo, "The 56-year-old claim is untrue and will be vigorously defended."

The lawsuit was filed on Friday, one day before the "look-back" window of the New York Child Victims Act expired.

Yes, but why would you only wait till now though? I'll press x to doubt on her case. I think she is only making shit up for attention and money.

Accuser highly reaks of an oldhag who was unhappy with her life and wasted it but now wants to try and turn things around and have the last laugh before she dies in 1-20 years or so

It's concievable she, being a scared little girl, didn't say anything until the SOL ran out in what, 1967? What was it in those days? Now she can actually do something.

Or she's full of shit. I'm just saying, that's a believable reason.

Ok but why didn't she started saying these things when the metoo and rape culture shit was happening 5-7 years ago? You'd think that's the best time for a little late but never move to make. Hell, she had like fourty years of being an adult she could have easily said so in those times but she didn't.

Yep and how come this is always about someone famous or in an important job position too? You never really see any articles of some woman acussing a random "literally who average Joe" 55 years later. The media reports all kinds of literally who rape yet I haven't seen any stories like that.

Well if it didn't involve a "famous person", it wouldn't likely merit that much media attention to begin with.

Not that that in any way proves anything, but it's just stating the obvious (e.x. when someone famous like Justin Bieber gets a speeding ticket, it makes the news, but an average joe getting a speeding ticket wouldn't receive any attention).

Yeah, you’re full of shit, and it’s really disgusting whores like you make it that much harder for REAL victims to be taken seriously when you keep spinning these fabrications.
Since this is being politicized, probably a lot of people who dislike his "liberal politics" will immediately assume he did it.

I think that now some of these women have come to realise "Maybe it wasn't just rock and roll". There's no way some of these young girls who had sex with musicians actually felt ok about it later. People like to write it off as slutty groupies who wanted it regardless of age. That's inaccurate. I don't think #MeToo is terrible. I think it's been misused by attention whores too much so we just think "Another bimbo. Who cares *eyeroll*". So when something pops up that holds some water we are less likely to believe. Anita didn't help either.

1965 probably wasn't a good time to be a victim of rape. Everyone would have said she was a little groupie whore and her life would be ruined. If she hurt Dylan's career with her allegations then his fans would hate her. Add in that she was 12 and you have a really nasty recipe for "keep your mouth shut. Nobody will believe you".

It may have just taken her this long to come to terms with it all. We don't know how bad it's been for her all this time. According to the article she's had it rough. Trauma can last a life time no matter what you do to treat it.

Dylan is 80 now. He's in the twilight of his life. If she waits any longer and he dies his estate will just tell her to fuck off.

Steven Tyler and Ted Nugent are guilty of exploiting minors for sex. We tend to forget what Steven Tyler did. Forcing a 16 year old to get an abortion at five months because the press might not like what was going on and he was tired of her anyway. And the fact that the girl forgave him decades later doesn't make him any less guilty. I hope he's truly come to terms with what he did. Had it happened now he'd be in jail for sure.

If she's lying though... Nasty thing to do to an old man. But this type of victimization was too common. I'm surprised none of the hair metal groupies have spoken out yet. Maybe those guys were just more careful on average? I was honestly expecting some big #MeToo debacle over bands like Def Leppard who had a literal groupie coral under the stage they would visit between sets for lovin'. They had roadies who would give passes to girls that the band liked and invite them down there. You know damn well those guys didn't bother to check ID.

Not that I want those bands to get into hot water. I'm just surprised nothing big from that genre has really surfaced. Especially with the Guns N Roses comeback.
