Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

You stop caring.

You find yourself amazed that your past self thought they'd actually honor their agreements and bargains when you watch Congress talk about how they didn't approve the enlistment contract so the US government is in no way shape or form obligated to uphold those agreements.

You watch illegal immigrants get gibs and bennies while you wait 10+ years for your claim to be denied.

You watch fat LOLcows get SSI while you're working your broken body at shit jobs.

You find out your military education doesn't transfer to college or to work experience or licensing.

You watch as officers and the politically connected talk about how good it is to be a vet while you're wondering just what the fuck you were thinking.

Eventually, you go numb, and you quit caring.

There's a lot more, but you just stop caring.

Then, when your son, nephew, cousin, friend's kid asks if they should join the military, you tell them "Only if you like non-consentual anal sex for the rest of your life" and promise to shoot them in the shin if they get drafted.

Of course, then you get vets like the author of Terminal Lance saying that the only vets who are disillusioned are REMFs and fuckups and failures who didn't get slathered in pussy.

A reminder - while the Taliban rallied their forces and started bribing local warlords and bureaucrats to join their side following Biden's breaking of the May 1st agreement, Milley and Austin were focusing the DOD's efforts rooting out "extremists" in a hunt for phantom Nazis instead of drawing up contingency plans for getting our troops and allies out of Afghanistan and making sure the enemy didn't get a hold of all the weapons, vehicles, and equipment U.S. taxpayers had spent billions on.
