Unpopular opinions about food

I like banana-flavored ice cream, banana is my favourite flavor of shake, and when the cereal Banana Bubbles existed, I was one of the only people alive who seemed to enjoy them. This is despite not really enjoying actual bananas, preferring apples.

You may know this already, but if not...

Banana-flavored stuff doesn't taste like bananas... now. It tastes like what bananas used to taste like, back before the banana that was popular at the time was nearly wiped out by Panama disease. But the banana flavoring agents have never been reformulated to match the current crop, since, well, they don't taste like all that much.

Specifically, banana-flavored stuff tastes like a Gros Michel banana. Modern bananas you buy in most stores in western world are Cavendish bananas.

You can still buy Gros Michel bananas, sometimes, from speciality shops or online, but they're expensive.

It doesn't really matter if you put your cereal before your milk or the other way around - it's going to get mixed up with your spoon anyway.

But tea bags before water though, otherwise it doesn't properly infuse and just stays floating at the top.

Bags before water if you're drinking black tea, water before bags for delicate green and white tea. Though loose leaf is better, im too lazy to care. most of the time I just drink strong yorkshire gold with milk and honey because I prefer tea to coffee

Tons of meat on pizza is disgusting

Giant burritos don't have proper ratios to ingredients and taste horrible as a result

Cheese doesn't need to be on everything
Pizza is best when it's very simple. Plain margherita pizza is perfect as is. Real unpopular opinion: pepperoni sucks ass, it makes an already greasy food unbearable, the texture doesn't work with the rest of the pizza, and lots of places use the most rank, shitty, low quality pepperoni possible. Meatballs on pizza are better in every possible way

Whether ice cream, cake or milkshakes vanilla is superior to chocolate.

Anchovies & pineapple go really well together on pizza.

Oatmeal raisin is the best cookie.
I strongly appreciate someone willing actually to state unpopular opinions on the unpopular opinions thread.

I'm not the biggest fan of pepperoni either (because like you said, grease) but used in moderation they're fine. My trick has to be getting them toward the edge where they seem to crisp better. Crisp pepperoni is divine here and there.

As for what meat goes best on pizza I'm in the ham camp. Ham, pepper, onions is my go to.

Hot damn, that's... I had no fucking idea. I wonder if we'll get a cheaper GMO version that matches it?

There are some of Jack Scalfani's recipes which I would eat.

And there are others I wouldn't eat even if it was served to me as prison food.

I know that story and the history of it all, but... I like current bananas. I eat more than one a day. and I enjoy the flavor and the texture.

I hate artificial banana flavor though. That shit is disgusting.

Mac n Cheese is not good at all and should only be eaten by children. “But RP,” you say “you haven’t had my wife’s boyfriend’s version and you will change you mind if you do.”

No, I won’t. I’ve tried everyone’s “amazing” version and it still sucks ass. Kill yourselves you bland-palate-having cucks.

Mayo is vile and ruins everything that comes in contact.
I totally agree when it comes to pure Mayo, I just hate the taste of straight oil & it's why I've never been a giant fan of Olive Oil, Beef Carpachio is gross to me and that's not a raw beef problem as I love rare steak. But aiolis which are essentially Mayo with different shit in it can be amazing. Plain Mayo is only a building block in food, it's mystifying that some treat it as a sauce.

Anyway I went into make a definitive statement, Bagels are the king of breads. Could you imagine taking any other bread, spreading it with cream cheese and calling it a Sandwhich? No, it would suck. Hell it only works with Bagels because a good Bagel has a unique texture along with the variety of flavors delis and bakers sell.

You can keep your baguettes, you can definitely keep your sourdough which is without a doubt the most overrated bread. I'll eat Bagels & Lox in the morning. And if you don’t agree I'd urge you to seek out a good local delicatessen and try a real bagel. Anything sold at a supermarket is a glorified bread roll.
