Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

I don't know if it's the alcohol, but this thread gets weird at night. Thankfully, this is a US-centric thread so hopefully I shouldn't miss much besides shitposting until the morning.

Good luck with the hangover, gents. I work early mornings so I'll wait until Friday to break out the tequila.
We're partying, you beautiful bowl of cereal. This is a monumental fuckup on the side of the people fucking us for almost two whole years.

People unite in a time of crisis, 9/11 was viewed as the biggest crisis to face Modern America in decades. Something to keep in mind with Bush Jr. is that while he had low opinion polls, he didn't have much hard opposition. Nor had he done anything to seriously shit the bed. So when the crisis came, people were willing to set aside their issues with him to focus on the issue at hand.

Correcting this......

Bush II came into office in deep deep shit. The controversy over the 2000 election debacle and the Supreme Court effectively handing Bush II the Presidency shattered the nation along red/blue lines and the Enron scandal and the media collectively branded Bush mentally retarded and unfit for high office and were wholesale tarring and feathering him on a daily basis while counting down for 2004. Bush II was treated as a literal lame duck, an aberration that would be quickly "fixed" in 2004, either by Gore running again ala as a neutered and sedated Andrew Jackson or by Hillary fucking Clinton.

Opposition to him was so great that the Democrats managed to FLIP THE SENATE by finding a GOP Senator who was filled with discontent towards how all of his fellow Senators were getting cushy cabinet jobs and other spoils from Bush II and Cheney but not him, and convincing him to stab Bush II in the back and effectively giving Democrats control over the Senate until the 2002 election brought the GOP back to power in a landslide.

9-11 basically changed the entire shape of the Bush II Presidency, gave Bush a +100 stat boost across the board that lasted until Hurricane Katrina and got him re-elected. And that only happened because "the other" IE Islamic Terrorists, killed hundreds of thousands of people and was such a once in a century cataclysm, that it made American unite collectively behind Bush II; who to his credit managed to spent at least the first couple of months post-911 doing a decent job uniting the masses before he and Cheney started looking for ways to exploit the carnage culminating in the Iraq War 2.0 debacle.

Why Churchill?

He's more like a modern day Teddy imo. Minus the physique.
Not really.

Teddy Roosevelt WILLINGLY stepped down, then had buyers remorse and ran as spoiler on par with Ralph Nader and Ross Perot, allowing Wilson to get elected and then spent the bulk of the 1910s calling Wilson a faggot for not joining WW1 right away.

I don't know why but Laura Bush reminds me of corn flakes.

Bland as is, but add some fruit and/or sugar with the cereal and...

You got yourself a healthy, hearty complete breakfast.

Evidently, modern politics has rather successfully skewed my views on a few things. I remembered all that but it all seemed so much... lesser. I'll grant everything you said and take a mea culpa. Easy to lose track of the bigger pictures when elbow deep in the shit.

One thing is for certain, I've never felt more disillusioned yet disappointed in my life. I cannot even tell what is reality.

Like Trump discovered: It's really hard to remember that your original goal was to drain the swamp when you're asshole deep in alligators.

I hate the precedence argument...the idea that we can't do something because we haven't done so before. Maybe it's time to set a bloody precedence

That is it. This country isn't even 300 years old. A LOT OF SHIT had no precedence. Reality doesn't give a wet, mudsucking fart about precedence otherwise 9/11 wouldn't have happened.

When people all over the world--including here--start grumbling loud enough, The DNC's HAND WILL BE FORCED BY HOOK OR BY CROOK.

When Trump gets proven right, you know you done fucked up. They keep proving his point trying to overthrow him.

Every time I make a prediction about things that are planned/how things will unfold, I always end up being wrong. Every time, the absolute dumbest possible thing happens and I set the bar even lower, just to be surprised again.

I had a feeling this administration would be bad. I thought it would be a year or so afterwards. I thought COVID would pass like Ebola. I was dead wrong. The best way to get by is have no expectations.

If you aren't going to respond to my posts, then go away black and white nigger!!

Especially when iguanas keep getting added to the pond. Remember future GOP star Kristi Noem, who is now hanging around the swampiest dogs in DC bayou (i.e. John Boehner)?

What a crok for South Dakota. Should have followed the money. Hat eater vindicated.

I've actually been doing some research on the 3GD out of curiosity and from what I've read you'd need a shitton of missiles to blow that thing. Granted info on the quality of any chink made shit is sketchy but it seems like you'd basically need to hammer the thing with thousands of missiles. I'm no engineer though. Though if I remember right the CCP themselves know that the 3GD would be the #1 target assuming a war broke out, that could mean either they know that shit can be broken easily, or they knew it would be a target and took measures to reinforce it against attacks. This being the CCP though I doubt they actually bothered to reinforce it due to sheer hubris.

It was already rated to be improperly constructed. It is the largest weak point in the world. As in video game boss blinking red SHOOT HERE obvious. There is a thread on the dam and thing related to it in happenings.

Pretty fucking funny that both the current and previous president get made fun of because of ice cream.

Minor correction: One was raged at for eating ice cream, the other was mocked. Otherwise, yes this is hilarious.

You have no idea how right you are, in fact, it's worse than I think most people realize. I've avoided commenting on it because I needed to see how it played out, but let me explain something I realized a couple of months back and is what got me started on my kick about Political Capital.

Pulling out on 9/11 would have been the mother of all Political Capital tsunamis. The sheer optics of it, on the twentieth anniversary, pulling out and saying its done, leaving a nominally 'stable' Afghanistan. Yah it'd fall in a few months, but that is soo far away it COULD be successfully memory-holed. The sheer -amount- of Capital it would generate would be huge, more so than even a successful election. Enough to pass any bills the administration wanted.

And so they borrowed against it.

Relying on that capital to come, they pushed for lockdowns, vaccine mandates, set up what they needed for election reform, pressed for filibuster reform, floated the idea of stacking the court. Even as crises began to mount they borrowed more from it, trusting it'd come so they delayed action on Immigration, Inflation, the New Housing Crisis.

This is why Biden's handlers were daring SCOTUS. They know it will fail, but one month was all they needed. One month, and everything could be solved. One. Month. and the paycheck would be in.
would it really be that much gain? not a burger but to me these days the whole afghanistan withdrawal felt like it would've been similar to a long-term patient finally peacing out - you're not really sad but not happy either, somewhere between "good riddance" and "finally". certainly no grounds for a celebration, and you can't really bank on "I got us out!" either since people were just sick & tired of the whole thing and just wanted it to be over, to the point they'd likely ask why not sooner instead of thanking him.

but again, that's just my non-burger impression.

I actually legitimately don't know how it's going. Like, you could tell me that France and Germany had built up the largest joint army in the world, and I wouldn't believe you, but it's not like I'd know any different.
>army
>germany
not happening, you'd get german politicians either fainting or frothing someone tries to start a fourth reich. the level of "inherited guilt" cuckery still dragging on from ww2 can't be fathomed until you have witnessed it yourself. the army they have is in a sorry state since they're pretty safe in the middle of europe and america was always happy to cover for them, so no need to fund them properly and the notion of "duty" to join up simply doesn't exist anymore (like, none at all). you'd still need to recruit out of the local population, and that... well let's say you either get some pampered soiboi or a "german" with immigration background, with a good chance that's some ex-taliban.

however they're are more than happy to pay for a globohomo version where their flag isn't on it - to a degree tho. there was quite some butthurt when trump told nato nations they gotta pay for their own shit more instead of wasting it on gibs for votes or send it into afghanistan etc. (and it wasn't even much, like 2% GDP or something), which ironically now have to do anyway.

I really have to wonder at this point, if America was under the threat of a nuclear strike how many of these fuckwits in power would abandon ship?

Worst part is they'll all just get into their vaults and shelters, lock up tight, and live out the rest of their days diddling kids and drinking and doing drugs while the the surface is scoured of all life by radioactive fire.

They'll die of a heroin overdose with a smile on their faces and their dicks jammed in a child while world slowly cools from a molten radioactive ball into a dead black planet silently circling the sun.

It's not a burger thing. The war has affected two generations of people. It has been the justification for many actions. There is hardly a person unaffected in some way.

Now add in the optics of it, the optics of what they thought would occur not what did, a smooth pull out, on the exact twentieth anniversary of a day that has lived in truest infamy. A day the majority of the voting populace has seared into their minds. The ability to say, "I am the one who did it".

Now add in the obvious media fanfare, wall to wall coverage. Extol the great things soldiers did, the true evil we 'quashed', build it into a patriotic fervor.

All of this centered on a time of immense darkness when people are afraid. Give them a shining ray of hope, and joy, and the removal of a dark cloud.

It's not just that it would end, it's the context in which it ends.

Oh all of them. Now, your nuke attack on the US will be a softening-up blow with EMP, but the actual attack itself, that's going to be SLBM and SLCMs, not the scary ol' "silo doors whanging open, 40 minutes to the end of the world" where you get this sickening slow-motion panic as you try to figure out if you're inside a primary target blast radius, and it's certainly not your garden variety Backfire Bombers flying in to the US where we'd have most of a day to prepare for it! No, the most warning anyone in the CONUS would have, would be 8-11 minutes.

Now, if someone did want to do it the old-school way, the entire US gov't would leave us all outside to burn while they nipped off to whatever the new Mt. Weather was, so in six weeks they could come out and, while protected by their praetorian guard who would machine gun you, your sick wife, and your starving children without flinching if you showed up to ask for a box of survival rations, they could proclaim that they were going to Build America Back Even Better (Give Or Take The Two Centuries That Will Be Required To Do It).

Ha, no, you and me? We're gonna fry, or choke to death on radioactive ash, or starve, and if we somehow make it through all of that, die from an untreatable case of the flu or tetanus you picked up when you cut yourself on a can opener. Not them though.
