Careercow Hayden Black - Untalented comedian with a string of failures including the infamous Gen Zed; suspended from Twitter

Everything about Gen Zed feels hypocritical and try-hard.
"A comedy about growing up... and wondering why you bothered" sounds like "we need to make this look good so let's pretend there's character development. Let's add "and wondering why you bothered" to make it snarky and epic and not like other shows."

In the end it truly amounts to "a comedy about the shitty outdated memes we grew up with and wondering why you bought our shitty T-shirts"

They can justify it however they want, but I'm pretty sure most black comedians don't advertise their shows with "I'm black, so you should support me or you're racist."
I think they're doing a similar thing with regards to intelligence. Several of their tweets and Tumblr posts say things along the line of "For the last time" & "Didn't think we needed to explain". It seems like they're basically saying "People who disagree with us and don't like the show just don't get it and are dummies! Pew Pew!"

Literally doing everything you're not supposed to do when marketing a show.

Wasn't there an episode of South Park where businesses started adopting the "Cartman Method", where they told everyone "fuck you, you can't come in here!", thus making everyone curious as to what the business is about?

I think they're trying to do that. Only it's crashing down on them, rather than working. The merch whoring doesn't help, either.

This seems like a ripoff of a shortlived show (the name escapes me) I remember airing around 2001 that was about a bunch of zany hipster tryhards living in NYC that was similarly aimed at the "youth." Gen Zed appears to be the same concept right down to the clumsy marketing and impending commercial failure.

Though that show at least had decent voice acting and could be mildly entertaining.

Assuming this ever actually gets made (or uploaded, whatever) I hope the landlord is a rational person who expects the main characters to pay rent and not act like retards, and that's why he's a "dick".

Having the landlord be completely psychotic can be fun, though.

For instance, Jerzei Balowski from The Young Ones.

The Goode Family?

I'm guessing you mean Mission Hill? It wasn't that bad, if memory serves.
