This part I do agree with. I get a little frustrated with people dismissing him as a pipsqueak and a coward. I mean, he's absolutely both of those things, but that doesn't make him less dangerous. All it means is that he'll opportunistically rape rather than planning it out ahead of time, and that his violence would be explosive and impulsive rather than calculated and intentional. If he gets ahold of a skinny, shorter girl he could overpower (with or without the aid of the stun gun we know he owns) all bets are off. One thing I recall that we haven't discussed in a while is that the judge in his kill list case had the last name Greer. Now, we could never determine if he was a relative, but if he was, it would explain why Russ got such lenient treatment. I wonder if Russ grew up used to the idea that people would pull strings for him and that's why he tries to weasel his way into important people's lives because he thinks he can get them to pull strings for him now. He sure expected Taylor Swift to just hand him a songwriting career without any work on his part. He had to get the idea that's a reasonable expectation to have from somewhere.

I can def see mommy and daddy (and maybe other relatives) bailing him out constantly contributing to his sense of entitlement and his ego (There's no doubt in my mind watching everyone else he was growing up with having to follow certain social rules while he was allowed to get away all sorts of nonsense at least enforced the idea in his head that he was something special) but his constant use of the term "underdog" makes me think that, kind of like CWC, his only understanding of how the world outside his little bubble comes from all the shitty media a lot of us grew up with where at the end of the movie the loser protagonist finally gets the courage to get on stage for the school talent show and the hottest lead cheerleader hears him sing and falls in love, or the shitty small town baseball team goes to the major leagues with the power of determination.
Especially as a teen when the local parents could no longer force their kids to pity-invite the gimp out with them and he'd just be sitting there consuming show after movie after song about the outcasts getting everything they want with maybe a three minute montage of them actually putting any effort in to their practice.
Kind of like how some people complain that Disney taught them that true love would be easy and just happen and be happily ever after, I think Russ may have absorbed all these stupid "underdog" plotlines to heart, whether it was intentional or just subconscious, and being so sheltered from how the world really works, his brain absolutely broke when it didn't happen to him, when it didn't follow the script.
Being a social reject and incredibly sheltered can leave some people with REALLY weird views on the world.

I agree that Russell isn’t any kind of imminent murder risk, but if a bumbling dweeb like Eliot Rodger can kill a bunch of people, surely Russell is technically capable of it as well.

Ugh it turns my stomach but yeah, there are quite a few examples out there of incompetent pussies becoming dangerous killers, especially if they have access to guns.
David Berkowitz (The Son of Sam) comes to mind. He shares a few common points with Russ but what stands out is that by his own admission Berkowitz said that killing up close was too hard, which is why he just shot people while they were vulnerable, taking them completely by surprise and in a vehicle, making it much harder for them to get away or fight back.
That's the route I could see Russ taking if he snapped.

I don't believe Russ will ever be charged with murder. I say this not because he isn't psychologically or physically capable of pulling of the act. He may one day be charged with attempted murder. Be it whatever divine, cosmic, or celestial force is out there, it made sure Russell Greer was destined to be a loser and fail miserably at anything he attempts. I don’t think Russ ever planned what he would sue Erika for. He just wanted to scare her into talking to him again. Rate me dumb but I have lowkey believed this for ages. He shows NO understanding of boundaries, familial or otherwise. His sense of entitlement is scary. I agree with those who think Russ got whatever he whined for when he was a kid, and that carried over to adulthood. Lots of people believed they are owed fame and fortune, but most just fume silently and then go to work at whatever shit job they have. And yes, if conditions are right, I firmly believe he could get violent. He doesn’t see women as real life people with their own independence, needs, wants and thoughts. Women are simply tools to get him what he wants when he wants. He has a huge sense of entitlement and not just over ownership of women but in every aspect of his life.

The problem is that when you have that sense of entitlement, it changes everything about your perception of life. Instead of disappointment, acceptance and moving on over things you don’t get or don’t have, it causes anger.

In the article just posted, a woman with experience in sex work holds a different opinion to Russ and because her opinion does nothing to serve him, he dismisses her thoughts as strange and irrelevant. She literally doesn’t matter.

This little manlet has a bad temper alongside his huge sense of entitlement, he also has no empathy or theory of mind. It’s a bad combination.

His frustration, anger and fucked up perceptions could certainly lead him to some stupid violent act toward someone he deems as standing in his way. It would most likely be a spur of the moment thing but his previous kill list shows that he is perfectly capable of thinking these things out and fantasising about causing harm in advance.

Fortunately, he’s probably too stupid to plan anything ‘successful’ but I do think there’s enough rage there for him to cause serious damage in the moment, especially as he grows more and more desperate and unhinged.

Interestingly, Berkowitz was also adopted. There's some research that suggests that shows adoptees are overrepresented among certain criminals and that adoption can be the first unresolvable narcissistic injury in such cases.
