Taliban offensive of 2021 and collapse of Afghan government.

Says the man who gargles the cock of a fat New York business man on the regular
>tons of equipment left behind for the Taliban
That was stuff for the ANA. Don’t be a fucking retard.
I'M SO NOT MAD I'M DOUBLE POSTING

lmfao no one gives a shit about your psuedo intellectual DNC copy bruh.

This actually got me thinking, even though the Taliban got a metric shit-ton of weapons from the ANA (which the USA gave/sold to them so they can build up their army), wouldn't they be mostly useless if ammo is that unavailable? It's kind of like the Humvees the Taliban can joyride in for a few months before gas runs out or they inevitably break down (I hate to say it, but our modern USA-made military equipment is NOTHING like the Toyota Hilux trucks that can run for 20+ years and be maintained fairly easily).

I guess what I'm thinking, besides the bad optics, does it matter the Taliban got this equipment in the end?
Not really. The stuff we left behind was broken or given to the ANA directly. We blew up a fuckload of shit as we withdrew troops, same with buildings. Small arms are easily replaced and cheap. The only good stuff they got their hands on that might last for them is the night vision gear that we gave the ANA.

EDIT: About the only thing that the Taliban obtained that miiiight matter was a newer drone they stole from the ANA.

who knows they could have stockpiles of ammo around and just never gave it out. I mean would you give them lots of ammo to people if you weren't paying them/taking care of them?

Equipment is an unknown. Even the modern miltiary stuff could last a while just depends. granted the Cold War era stuff is 100 times better than the modern stuff for longevity.

Bagram Airfield proves this is not entirely the case.

The Chinese, Iranians and Pakistanis make 5.56, 7.62 NATO and .50 BMG. Those guns are gonna last a long while. The only thing thats gonna dry out is Mk 19s as only nearby people who use it are the Pakistanis and they have to import it as well as it's expensive.

I don't dispute the stuff WE left behind being broken or at the end of their service life. I'm more curious about the stuff the ANA had, which is the overwhelming majority of what the Taliban got. Did the ANA really have no ammo to give their own troops the last few months? Did the ANA have no reliable way to maintain weapons/equipment after the USA left?

This almost feels like, as Todd Howard would say, a feature and not a bug for our equipment. The ANA would rely on having technicians ("specialists") maintain equipment as long as the ANA wanted to use it and the minute the manufacturers/defense contractors are out of the picture, everything goes to shit. I feel like that was the original plan from the start -- the US Military would be out but specialist technicians would always be present to maintain equipment, since the ANA were technically customers.

It's kind of genius actually -- the MIC has permanent customers (not unlike pharmaceutical companies) and income flow due to equipment that fails predictably. Likewise, if the equipment falls into "enemy hands" (non-paying customers) they are doomed to break down quickly.

Small arms aren’t really the biggest possible issues. The good stuff is tube artillery, and they seized enough of it from the ANA along with ammunition to last a while, if they bother ever using it. Most of the stuff will last a long time but small arms are replaceable, common, and available all over the region.

Y'all niggas missing the forest for the trees, the materiel doesn't matter, its the thousands of new jihadis that are going to flock to the emirate, that came into being due to Allah's blessing for the righteous defenders of the faith and fan out from there, that matter.

That's why this is a disaster.

LOOK AT HIS FUKING SWORD!

That is true, even if those giant piles of guns were broken/prop guns, they still LOOK cool and it's firing up the imaginations of Jihadis (and /pol/-tards) all over the world (despite them being potentially useless). I find this actually quite funny.
