As has been said many times here, the biggest reason he's (still) with her is likely due to him thinking that he won't be able to find someone else/being awkward with women. There are other reasons that likely contribute: the sunk cost fallacy as you mention, not wanting the people who've been making fun of him to be vindicated, etc. At the end of the day though, I think he's like many other young men of this era: he doesn't have as much confidence as he projects, he's not great with women, and he probably doesn't feel like he can do better (which, I mean I get having low self-esteem but most guys can do better than Anisa.)

It should be added that he probably likes that Anisa seems about as lazy as he is.
