NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A conservative talk radio host who had been a vaccine skeptic until he was hospitalized from Covid-19 has died. He was 61.

Nashville radio station SuperTalk 99.7 WTN confirmed Phil Valentine’s death in a tweet Saturday.

Valentine had been a skeptic of coronavirus vaccines. But after he tested positive for Covid-19, and prior to his hospitalization, he told his listeners to consider, “If I get this Covid thing, do I have a chance of dying from it?” If so, he advised them to get vaccinated. He said he chose not to get vaccinated because he thought he probably wouldn’t die.

After Valentine was moved into a critical care unit, Mark Valentine said his brother regretted that “he wasn’t a more vocal advocate of the vaccination.”

“I know if he were able to tell you this, he would tell you, ’Go get vaccinated. Quit worrying about the politics. Quit worrying about all the conspiracy theories,'” Mark Valentine told The Tennessean in July.

“He regrets not being more adamant about getting the vaccine. Look at the dadgum data,” Mark Valentine said.

Phil Valentine had been a radio personality since he was 20 and became a popular conservative host by railing against a state income tax proposed by Republican then-Gov. Don Sundquist, the Tennessean reported.

The program grew into a nationally syndicated show that aired for 12 years on as many as 100 stations, according to the newspaper. At the end of the run, Valentine signed a three-year deal in 2019 that kept him on 99.7 WTN.

“Phil Valentine was a visionary for the conservative movement, and he made an enormous impact on the lives of many Tennesseans,” U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn tweeted. “My deepest condolences and prayers are with Phil’s wife, Susan, and his family. May they be comforted and surrounded by love during this difficult time.”

Problem is lockdowns increase as people refuse to vaccinate. Conservatives bitch about the new normal, when they make it last longer.
Yeah, these governments are totally going to give up this unprecedented power to shut down the country on a whim once everyone obeys. Christ, you are dense.

Was this guy a smoker? Seems like he had a pre-existing condition that caused him to die from Covid. Not because he was anti-vax.

Obviously, nobody's dying because they refuse to take the vaccine. They die because their bodies aren't resisting covid despite the vaccine: the vaccine isn't some sort of magical elixir. Some people are taking it and are doing fine after getting covid. Some others are dying. Both sides are taking these specific cases to make their own political points and try to own the other side and that's equally absurd.

The real objective headline should have been:

Conservative talk radio host who was hospitalized from Covid-19 has died. He was 61.

Oh yes as if its Democrats spouting anti vaxx conspiratard bullshit. I can smell the conservative stupidity rising off you. Keep fearing the shadows.

And next to them is uneducated whites. Like the south. And GOP pushes anti vax rhetoric, Dems don't. What's your point?

The largest group unvaccinated is still blacks. Second-biggest is an also-ran here, nobody cares. The biggest single group by percentage is blacks. Blacks are majority democrats.

Before Biden got in office, half the Democrat politicians who could get air time were saying they wouldn't trust the "trump vaccine". Now that it's the "fauci ouchie" instead of the "trump vaccine", they're all for it, but before that they were advocating the anti-vax side and republicans were pro-vax.

People are fucking retarded tribalists. Film at 11.

Maybe they have a point? Being exploited and experimented upon without consent isn't something to gloss over.

Your headline reads "Blacks and whites refuse rushed vaccines using radically new technology with no long-term testing to fight a mildly bad and forgettable flu."

Time for some realtalk, SASS style.

This virus is at worst on the scale of the 1890s flu, which was another coronavirus. Whether or not you are vaccinated, you will inevitably be exposed to this virus and it will eventually evolve into another stock virus in the common cold arsenal.

You are right, but the difference now is that we aren't in 1890 anymore and we can do the best we can to protect vulnerable people, in this case, seniors and people with specific comorbidities. Those are and should be the main target for vaccination. Both the group advocating for no vaccine and those demanding even their pets get the shot aren't be as helpful as they think they are.
