Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

Plus you have to remember that Obama was smart enough to let multiple levels of underlings handle fast and furious, so even if it really got bad, the worst that would fall on him was hiring incompetent morons like Holder.
Biden on the other hand has attached his stupid face to every step of this stupid process ever since he got in office and almost immediately decided to rip up everything Trump ever did, without considering the consequences when one of the things he ripped up was an armistice with a fucking terror group so persistent they outlasted Al Qaeda and ISIS in many ways. Those groups still exist but what's left are the glowie infiltrators and some idiot true believers. Taliban just took back their homeland in a week and have the US asking for terms. And Bidens face is on it all, apparently even foreign press and politicians are now against him, our military thinks he's a piece of shit who would stab them in the back and Americans are now concerned he's going to be asleep when there's another 9/11 or something.

Remind me what screw ups Obama had prior to that that was worth thorough public scrutiny? The answer is you can't. Additionally you seem to clearly miss my point, that being, that you can't have this screw-up followed then by a terrorist attack connected to it and expect no domestic political consequences from it. That's ridiculous.

When was the last time an election was about electing the 'best and brightest'? Probably before my lifetime since I was born shortly after Clinton was sworn in the first time.

None of our modern presidents deserved office compared to many other candidates they 'defeated' and the offerings of presidential pickings have been slim or shit for decades.

It's all a big political game of you scratch my back, anointing someone as a potential in college accolades, legacy and the thirst for a either a monarchy or communism.

The media manipulate who gets to be even in the qualifiers, let alone the semi finals. It's not about the best, it's about the privilege and the propriety as 'they' (the elite who run everything) see fit. Probably always will be...

There used to be a veneer of noblesse oblige amidst the aristrocrats of old, Americans included. It was probably tied to the fact that they were also landowners and thus had a stake in ensuring their fellow man were at least not starving.

What responsibility does the rootless oligarchs have in these present day? None at all. They can just stripmine a country and flee to another.

A threat I'm confident they could back up as well. Its incredibly likely that the Taliban are breaking out their stocks of Manpads now that they are taking to open control much more thoroughly. So odds are, if they were so inclined, they could back that threat up with a few guys rocking launchers visibly just to make it clear what consequences are. Don't even have to fire them, just make sure a few Journo's see and shit their pants at the implications.
