Trevor Moore, Comedian and Co-Founder of ‘The Whitest Kids U Know,’ Dies at 41

Trevor Moore, the comedian, actor and producer who co-founded sketch comedy group “The Whitest Kids U Know,” died Friday in an accident. He was 41.

Moore’s manager confirmed the news to Variety and provided a statement on behalf of Moore’s wife, Aimee Carlson, and family. “We are devastated by the loss of my husband, best friend and the father of our son. He was known as a writer and comedian to millions, and yet to us he was simply the center of our whole world,” Carlson wrote. “We don’t know how we’ll go on without him, but we’re thankful for the memories we do have that will stay with us forever. We appreciate the outpouring of love and support we have received from everyone. This is a tragic and sudden loss and we ask that you please respect our privacy during this time of grieving.”

Moore was born in Montclair, N.J. and grew up in Charlottesville, Va. He developed an interest in writing from a young age, creating and publishing cartoons in his teens. At 19, he wrote and produced a sketch comedy show for a local TV station.

After moving to New York in 1999, he interned with Lorne Michaels at “Saturday Night Live” and co-founded “The Whitest Kids U Know” with Zach Cregger, Sam Brown, Timmy Williams and Darren Trumeter. The group produced a self-titled sketch series for IFC that ran for five seasons. They also made two films together, “Miss March” and “The Civil War on Drugs,” with an animated feature titled “Mars” due to premiere in 2022.

Aside from “The Whitest Kids U Know,” Moore began hosting “The Trevor Moore Show” on Comedy Central in 2019. He also co-created and executive produced the interactive Disney Channel comedy “Just Roll with It” and wrote and directed Disney XD series “Walk the Prank.”

“Early this morning, we learned that we lost our brother, our collaborator and the driving force behind WKUK,” Cregger and Brown wrote in a statement. “He was our best friend, and we speak for all of us in saying that the loss of Trevor is unimaginable. We are heartbroken and our grief pales in comparison to the loss felt by his wife and son. On behalf of WKUK, we ask for privacy during our time of profound grief, and strength for his family who are dealing with the impossible thought of living life without him. Our hope is that friends, fellow artists, and fans that loved him will not focus on his death, but will remember the countless moments of laughter he gave them.”

Comedy Central remembered Moore in a Twitter post: “Trevor Moore was an incredible talent and a vital member of the Comedy Central family. We will miss him dearly.”

Moore is survived by Carlson and his son, August. The family encourages donations to Next for Autism in Moore’s honor.

Not a death I expected by any means. I wonder what kind of "accident" happened.

Well the body has been released to the family but the cause of death still says 'deferred' so it seems extremely likely at this point that they're just waiting for the tox screening to come back before they complete the report, otherwise they wouldn't have released the body
If the cause of death is revealed, it sounds like a decent amount of people are going to be pretty disappointed.

I mean I'm still rooting for the comical 'Ooooooooh noooo' slow motion fall face first on a rake, but yeah at this point it's clear that he either drank himself to death, or OD'ed on some shit.

That guy was making songs about drinking mouthwash. Destined to be wasted on some obscure shit

My guesses are:

1) Choked on his vomit
2) Methanol poisoning
3) Fentanyl-related OD

Sad but not exactly unexpected. That's why I said I think in hindsight 'Gary' was autobiographical

Finally got your life on the right track
And finally got that monkey off your back
Picking up the pieces of your life
Repair the damage with your kid and wife
You'll take this one day at a time
And this time you'll persevere

Ooh, I know that life is scary
And you think you've found your way
But still I gotta say
I don't think you'll make it Gary

Ooh, make no mistake about it
I hope you're done with all your strife
Live a long and happy life
But I kinda sorta doubt it

Extremely lame. Not because coroner's reports can't be faked when you retire to live on Bowie's secret island with all the other alive celebrities, but because I've been binging their streams over just this past week and was looking forward to new ones.

In the last couple of months he's joked a few times about probably only having under a decade left, with the others replying that's because he was depressed.
Though they also stated confusion about why the CIA hadn't taken him out yet.

The methanol idea is dumb. I make a lot of moonshine. You have to really seriously fuck up for that to happen nowadays; it's nearly impossible unless you're deliberately doing some inconvenient old fashioned shit. Regular alcohol is plenty to poison yourself with a still, no need to wank on about methanol.

(Except I just noticed the name of the user who clipped it. Faked death confirmed)

It would have been, if it wasn't for the case he himself said that he had no idea what he was doing, already had an accident with his still, and that he was just learning that shit off of youtube videos.

So if he was half-assing it and especially if doing it while drunk or high, it's easy to think he'd fuck something up.

VLC doesn't open it. Can you get a copy?

VLC didnt run it for me either but native HLS player did

Here's the clips of them talking about Chris Chan and KF. Apologies if they're too big these are the first vids I've uploaded directly to the site.

Not the last poster, but I had the same problem. I'm most interested to hear the clip about the Farms but logically speaking, I suppose the full thing would technically satisfy both groups.

You're a star. Funny how the poll was 50:50 on people who had heard of Chris Chan and those who hadn't. It's like Thermal Layers in the ocean where there are entire parallel ecosystems right next to each other but distinct. The clip shut off just as the other dude was saying: "You know what I watched a lot of in Bulgaria?" and frankly I was relieved not to hear the answer. :)

This was two hours before his death? He looks completely fine. Of course anything can happen in that time period, but I was under the impression that he really hadn't been doing well physically up until his death.

He wasn't doing great, that's from the day before:

Those are tremors of a severe alcoholic who is trying to stop drinking. He probably then drink a shitton that night and ended up dying as a result, either choking to death on his own puke or alcohol poisoning, Amy Winehouse style

I don't buy him choking on vomit but I could see the methanol poisoning theory if he got a little too drunk and completely forgot some kind of steps then ended up drinking the wrong shit. God knows I've fallen asleep with shit in the oven while drunk before, probably pretty easy to end up fucking yourself with moonshine if you're wasted.

Thank you so much. I have no idea how to clip shit.

The guy I responded to was able to get the important clips. Hopefully someone else can get the full stream. Zach mentioned that he wants to edit this video before he uploads it to Youtube and puts it back up on Twitch. I'm curious if he's gonna edit out the KF mention.

He did this interview a few days before he died. He was talking about making blackberry mash on a weekend coming up. He died the next Saturday morning. It had to be related to that somehow. His friend Darren mentioned that Sam had to go clean up where the accident happened. Which just leaves me with more questions.
