i didnt 'move on' to guitar, ive played guitar for 30+ years just the same as drums. when i expanded my band to a full group lineup, i switched from predominantly playing guitar at shows and doing almost all of the guitarwork to drumming live and letting my guitarists handle the guitar parts on albums and singles. that was in 07 or so. in 08 i decided 'hey im leveling out here, if i wanna improve i should focus on drums more', started playing a little lighter, took the earplugs out. maybe rudimentally i didnt improve a shitton from there beacuse at that point i was already really good, but my creativitiy and approach improved a lot, which when you're a drummer its often better to have that than anything else.

im in the process of saving up to get an all aluminum guitar, and those guitars typically command in excess of 3k. but..its what i need in order to turn a corner with my music in terms of the sound and ability. the alu guitar has a very thin neck that i need in order to improve because the neck on my main axe is like a baseball bat, its not easy to sweep pick with it. my main axe is a headless graphite neck guitar with a koa wood body, its a one of a kind. so's the all alu guitar im buying. when i get that, i'll be putting more attention toward working on tunes and i doubt anyone's gonna see much of me again, its taken me a minute to save this up. however im gonna be doing something nobody's done, combining those two particular materials of guitars in music.
