I don't think "legally women" should be a thing anymore, it doesn't make much sense. Why do we need a social fiction if it does completely nothing at least, and actively harming people and eroding social ties at most. It's better if we can say it to troons loud and firm that, no, you cannot be the opposite sex, and there will be nothing on the documents to ever accept their delusion. Let them dress and act whatever they want is accepting enough.
One of the bigger reasons for legal gender change was marriage - heterosexual trans women couldn't get married to their partners. The UK took a hardline on it after the 1960s and classed it as perjury or an invalid marriage.
Groups like Press For Change raised awareness and
sympathetic articles were published. Even after the Gender Recognition Act 2004 passed, enabling trans people to change their legal gender, there was still some furore over gender recognition certificates (although nowhere near as much as today) as already married trans people who started transitioning had to finalise their divorces before being able to legally change their gender.
These aspects went away with gay marriage being legalised. You'll note that while there were trans people involved in many parts of the gay rights movement, and e.g. a man who wanted to transition but would still be into his wife wanted to maintain his ability to stay married, none of these heterosexual marriage groups really supported anything to do with the gay marriage laws. Which puts the trans community's current hatred of faggots into a bit of perspective. As much as there's claims of the gay community "throwing the trans community under the bus" in the pursuit of acceptance, the inverse did happen here on TERF island.
The other aspects are to do with stealth trans people scared of having to out themselves to employers etc. but most of the people in this thread both don't want to live stealth and also don't pass enough to ever consider living stealth.
Another story from Britbong Troon Land. A demented
Troon called “helresa” has been hawking a book wot he wrote about his journey of abandoning his family so he can play dress up and pretend, and have his cock chopped off.
It’s a
vanity publishing house, and he now realises that no fucker is in the least bit interested in his insanity.
Occasionally, a nanosecond of reality creeps in, and the Troon becomes rational and lucid.

Hah, "I'm not a famous published author! Perhaps I should detransition". Ironically as being trans is becoming so mainstream, there's nothing unique or interesting about a random middle aged person talking about their transition. Jazz Jennings (well, ok, Jazz's muchie mother) got in at the right time because a trans child was still a novelty when their show started airing.
All the female entomologists: am I a joke to you? They like bugs, employed, and cargo shorts with hoodies is basically their uniform.
Seriously, I've been sleeping on the FtMs because the MtFs are just too grotesque. But this is some high level sexist shit.

Teachers asking for pronouns wtf. Of course I was curious to see what this totally cis passing manly man looks like. Didn't find a selfie but unfortunately found an age.

Listen I did a lot of cringy stuff at that age but at least my teachers called that shit out instead of playing along.
This is highly confusing. If you pass 100% as a boy and teachers supposedly tend to he/him you, then you wouldn't be outing yourself by saying you're he/him. Because all the boys in the class will say he/him. "Forcing closeted students to out themselves or misgender themselves" is not what's happening here, because closeted students will be automatically misgendered until they out themselves.
Probably it's because they're 14. They've missed the memo from people a decade older that everyone needs to do pronoun circles all the time because it teaches the cis never to assume pronouns. It's like how ten years ago you were transphobic if you didn't write "trans*" (because the asterisk is a wildcard and so includes everyone under the trans umbrella) and now you're transphobic if you do write "trans*" (because you're implying those people don't count as trans enough to fit under plain old "trans").
