Remember when the UG crossover went down, and all the SJWs were shitting themselves over UG wearing a dress?

Well, in the latest SU episode, Steven wore a dress. So, you'd think they'd be getting their twats in a twist, right? Nope, they're going on about how great it is that Steven is challenging the gender binary.

I love the smell of hypocrisy in the evening.
Was it a joke about how he was wearing a dress or something? Because they just hate when they use "man dresses like woman" as a joke.

Also Steven is what they project their grooming tendencies onto, they want to raise a little boy into a "good guy" through revealing patriarchy or something.

$10 says it's because they hate Uncle Grandpa and will use any excuse to demonize the show. But it's a-okay when Steven does it, am I right?

Does everything have to be changing the gender binary? Can't you like this show for something other than its gender politics, or entertainment that's not always progressive and shit?

How else will people know how Progressiveyou are and how umproblematic your fave cartoon is?

Nope. Everything has to be all identity politics, all the time, forever, because it's what people like this have instead of a personality.
It's like that one engineering student that is amazing at his chosen discipline, and has absolutely no outside interests whatsoever.
Well, except that engineering actually serves a purpose.

Forgive me for being nostalgic, but I miss the days when people didn't whine about how problematic and unproblematic a show was, whether it was cartoons or anything else.

These people must be absolute hell to talk to in real life.

The context is
The episode is about a character wanting to sing at a talent show, but she has a pageant mom parent who gets too into it. When she finally quits, Steven takes her place in the talent show, goes on-stage in the dress she was going to wear and sings a Ke$ha-esque musical number while throwing glitter everywhere

Yes, it was a "man acting like a woman" joke, but we've long established that the average Tumblr user doesn't understand jokes.

Is quoting from the Multimedia forum's SU thread too cannibalistic? Because there's some gems (heh heh) in there.

i have dealt with this crisis on conscience since this thread was made

It's a tough call. Probably best not to since people shouldn't feel like they can never talk about genuinely liking anything on the forum without it being used against them, but if there's something above-and-beyond spergy it's hard to say that it shouldn't be copied over. Maybe shoot me a PM if there is a post or two you had in mind?

It's a relief to see that some of the people reblogging that are actually calling the OP out on their melodramatic bullshit. If anything, their reasons for claiming that Garnet is black (dark skin, an afro, big lips, ect.) are racist because they're resorting to nothing but stereotypes. Ass-backwards much?

From cuteosphere, but applies more here. You know that the primary audience for the cartoon to relate to is supposed to be children, right? Again, somehow a character that is nothing but a total stereotype created by white people is the best representation and not a funny punchline. Right.

Yeah, I don't see how you can come to the conclusion that she's black. She's purple and isn't purple a racist thing to call a black person?
She had a more realistic skin color in the earlier episodes. Honestly the "if you see this design and think she's a black woman YOU'RE RACIST" shit that I see thrown around sometimes just seems like more reactionary SJW autism.

But it's always her and none of the other gems. Cuteosphere and most of tumblr have a Black fetish and that's pretty racist, ironically enough.

Aren't all of the main characters victims of "Designed by a Tumblrite or Stormfronter" syndrome, though? Like I was saying, the two "black coded" characters have stereotypes that white people give black ones, to the point where even their personalities are stock. It's just funny for people to see people prop up characters as progressive when they're so "progressive" that they're actually racist.
