Saints Row thread

So they went from a GTA clone to a Watchdogs clone?

This whole thing screams the worst parts of Agents of Mayhem with modern day industry pandering thrown in. "Oh, the character is customizable, don't worry!" Fuck you faggots. The writing for said character is clearly going to take a fucking gay Zoomer slant.

Jesus Christ I should just learn to code and make my own games at this point.

Truly a cursed game serie

If this was actually a different game in the series, like one that is a spin-off from SR2, I'd probably have been a bit lenient with it. It's not bad in that form of light, and the trailer is mediocre... dangerously no gameplay which is NOT a good sign, and the cast was generico enough to be its own game, but eh. But this is their take of a remake of the first one?

Fuck no. Give me fucking Stilwater and give me the old shit. Fuck you for the bait and switch, the franchise is dead-dead.

As retards on reddit are pointing out, they promised a REBOOT and this is a REBOOT!!!

This seriously feels like they started work on Agents of Mayhem 2 before they realized nobody wanted it, but they didn't want to scrap what they started so they just called it Saints Row.

Yeah no.

Even if they were honest with us in calling it a reboot, this isn't SR. At no point does it have the tone nor does any of the cast feel like they are a part of the Saints.

Am going to agree that this is a retooled Agents of Mayhem game.

Oh I agree. The excuse that they promised a reboot is bullshit. Especially since they started the hype with a brick wall and graffitti.

I know when I see that, I think 4 faggot hipsters.

Man, they REALLY didn't want to make another Saints Row game, huh.

I guess it's too problematic for the 2020's

I would rather pay 60 dollars for a fucking SR1 remaster than this.

Edit: Despite the quick announcement after the backlash that there is, in fact, character creation I don't believe it. The fucking actress playing the Boss was interviewed and made it seem very VERY much so that she IS the main character of this game.

I think they're going to throw in a shitty character customization feature at the last minute now to try and save face.

Saints Row was always built from imitation. At first glance, it's a GTA: SA ripoff. But, the writing had charm to it. It knew when to be serious and when to lighten up.

I fear that this reboot will push every post-modern cliche in front of your face. Being obnoxiously absurd with no originality.

I guess it's too problematic for the 2020's
That would be "cultural appropriation" in today's day and age.

I'd shell out good money for a remaster of SR1 and SR2 - fuck 3 and 4, they've had enough re-releases at this point, the games quality or lack thereof notwithstanding.

This looks like the most paint by numbers, game design by committee looking game I've seen since I forced myself to finish Mass Effect Andromeda.

Oh, lovely, a borderlands rip off, and a snowflake jerk off session too. I'll pass on this one. A shame, I was hoping for a true reboot. So much for going back to their roots on this one. It feels like a twitter user with too many followers got their wet dream. It feels absolutely soulless.

Why are writers currently so fucking averse to taking shit seriously? Everything has to be snarky and quirky, notice how even at 3 or 4's wackiest, you can still tell who's who when they speak, fucking college boys here are undistinguishable from each other, fuck, i just realized there were four characters in the trailer and not three!
I remember when the seventh generation of consoles came around, games were "more serious" and drab with little deviation. Saints Row 2 was meant to be an inverse of IV's serious tone.

The issues with games isn't being serious or quirky, there's just no complexity with their tone. There's no depth. The trend now is politicized writing to cater to an audience with short attention spans.
