They knew Kamala could never get over on her own, but having her in via Biden seemed like it may have been a plan for the DNC at one point, only for it to become a complete and total Monkey's Paw for them.

Everyone knew Biden was in poor health and had dementia, even if they underestimated just how bad off he really was.

I get the feeling Kamala might've been "the one" for the DNC very early on in the primaries but Tulsi sank that bitch like the Lusitania in the first debate and when she couldn't even get any votes in her own state, they knew she was a dud on her own.

Then the plans went to keeping Bernie and Tulsi out and getting Joe Biden in. Before March 2020, it felt like they wanted to run Biden as a jobber since he'd do the least amount of downballot damage in a loss to Trump. Then the pandemic kicked off in earnest and they had a golden ticket and a chance of actually winning the election.

The DNC threw all their power behind getting rid of Trump and preserving the status quo neoliberal order while keeping the Woke Left around and empowered so long as they remained useful idiots. Now they're stuck and any option they have is only gonna make things worse.

Honestly, I think they expected to run Biden as a jobber at first until COVID-19 happened and gave them an opportunity. Then the whole plan changed completely and the plan has changed multiple times since then. Nobody knows what the fuck they're doing at this point.

The DNC's plans for this presidency all come off as very improvised and the elites tend to be more reactive than proactive.

Trump supporters learned they had to take an active role propping up their guy because they knew establishment conservative media couldn't be trusted.
Joe Biden is propped up by almost every monied interest, but the enthusiasm doesn't trickle down to the grassroots. Joe never had a keen base which would ride-or-die for him.
The closest the left has to populists are the Sanders supporters, AOC and Breadtube. These groups will never win power or be given any respect by the DNC because when the going gets tough and the slander and rigging begins they crack and fall back in line. Trump supporters don't do that.
