"Take the L" is such a huge fucking problem for this entire culture right now. It's not that hard to admit you're wrong or that you fucked up. It's even ok to say "I take responsibility" and then take action to show you're responsible, like resigning or having a very frank gathering where you tell concerned parties how and why you fucked up, and make commitments to doing better with an actual roadmap to get there.
There's no honesty whatsoever and no culpability when things go wrong. I see this in a lot of industries, too, via work stuff...this isn't isolated to just one sector. The entire business and government world is one big "we came up short of projections for the 6th quarter running, but that's to be expected and let's set new goals for next year."
