Taliban offensive of 2021 and collapse of Afghan government.

And now there's been a third suicide bomb at the airport.

At this point it's obvious the civvies remaining on the ground in Kabul are fucked, no matter what country they ostensibly belonged to.

So the question I now have is:

How many soldiers are we going to leave behind?

It's questionable whether the attacks have been bombs or rockets, but rockets fired onto the runway or at outgoing planes could easily result in the largest loss of American soldier lives since I don't know when. Any military spergs want to chime in with when the last time is that 200, 1000, 4000 US soldiers were killed in a single day?
Off the top of my head - never?

I mean even D-Day was fewer than 3,000. Argonne was over the course of two months.

Edit: Civil War. Americans have yet to have any severe war.

It will depend on what ISIS does. They're trying to throw a wrench in the spanner for the evacuation as much as possible so the US misses the deadline. Assuming they can make the US miss the deadline, and the Taliban is unwilling to negotiate, those soldiers are fucked. They're horribly outnumbered, assuming they can even get CAS, it won't be all that effective since the fighting will be close enough that CAS would have to worry about friendly fire. Also, as discussed earlier, the Taliban captured a lot of MK-19s and plenty of ammunition for them. Those could easily suppress the guard positions there, which would allow the Taliban to overrun the airfeild. Likewise, given how disorderly things are, I'd be amazed if the Taliban didn't slip a few people into the evacuees in order to have eyes on the inside. At least there's no way I wouldn't do this if I were in their shoes.

Yeah

On Twitter, mere moments ago, people were saying they expected some sort of glow op.

Holy Shit.
France and the US have been saying they had indications there was going to be an attack for a day or two, if you roll back you Twitter feed to maybe as far back as Monday and search. One of the more sketchy things we did was request the Taliban "checkpoints" further away from the airport, which they complied to. By widening the security cordon they made it more porous, the Taliban fighters were clubbing people and whipping people who had no business approaching the airport and likely would have been the people blown up rather than the airport itself. The Hotel almost certainly would still have been hit.

Strange how things just conveniently align like this after the CIA Director requested it.

To paraphrase the words of Walter Sobchak’s doppelgänger @AnOminous, the U.S. government is out of their element on this one. There’s no way we can defend Biden’s administration for messing this up in now a very graphic way with this bombing at Kabul’s airport, while still make memes about a group that will kill their own women and toss infidels out of helicopters.

Either way, the trapping of Americans on Afghanistan’s own soil is not a good look regarding these circumstances. It makes one really ponder how we went from America First to America Last to as of this moment being America’s Doormat.

I wonder if there was another set of protests against the criminal regime in DC if the military would even step in again to suppress them at this point. Much like the end of the Soviet regime, eventually the enforcers just can't bring themselves to turn on the people to prop up a decrepit, failed system, throw up their hands, and it all comes crumbling down.

This is unforgivable. Biden, the DNC, and the generals that enabled him all belong in prison.

on https://afghanistan.liveuamap.com/, it seems as if there's heavy gunfire erupting in different Kabul districts too...it's not impossible that ISIS is trying to do some kind of nighttime blitz to try and grab the city from the Taliban. idk...after a little over a week, it's clear Taliban haven't managed to secure this 5 million city enough (few probably could and they never expected to have to this quick)...so the airport attack could've been meant as a diversion. either way it's going to be hard to tell as it's the middle of the night when all of this shit is going on.
