Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

As our Best Stalin had pointed out, what good are those decorations if you can't tell who's competent and who's deadwood? Especially when the wars that have been fought for the past twenty years willfully and constantly ignore Sun Tzu's basic precepts. Even without woke stupidity, the officers that made it up the chain were people that looked good in uniform, but never actually had to produce results. Take that infamous jumping jacks video. Everyone laughs at how they can't do them, but listen to the trainers speaking in English. How many US training officers know basic Pashto, Dari, or Farsi? That's partially a teaching failure too. But it doesn't matter for the careerist, it looks good on a resume.

It's not even an officer problem either, but a problem that infects the Center Left as a whole. They want Obama as a leader, even though the results he actually produced were garbage. Their problem now is they've chased out anyone who could have been competent like Surf Mommy* or Bloomberg.

*Actually, I think Tulsi is the kind of mediocrity I'm criticizing. It's just that the wokeness of her party made it so she couldn't say and think the right things.

I'd like to address the issue of US officers who can speak Pashto, Dari, and Farsi. The US Army and US Air Force, for sure, run extensive Foreign Area Officer (FAO) training programs. FAOs go to many different countries. FAOs attend the Defense Language Institute to be trained in a language. This includes Pashto and Farsi. Last DLI school of which I was associate dean taught Russian and Farsi, school before that taught a number of languages, and the first school taught Arabic. We had a number of FAO students in each school. In addition to studying a language at DLI, FAOs attend the Naval Postgraduate School, also located in Monterey, to get a master's degree in a related area of study. Depending on the language studied, some FAOs are in Monterey for a good three years attending schools. After training, the FAOs go to the countries assigned. You can bet over the last twenty years there have been a lot of US officers with language ability who have gone to Afghanistan. You can also bet there have been a bunch of special operations types who've learned those languages.

In fairness to Lincoln, much of the damage was done during Buchanan's term before him. Buchanan's legacy might end up being a more apt comparison to Biden than the Carter admin.
