Company sent out a survey. I knew what it was about the moment it hit my inbox. The first 5-6 questions were irrelevant, it was all about the last one. "How would you feel about requiring vaccination before employees return to the office?" They claimed the survey was totally untraceable and anonymous, but I'm not stupid. I gave vague answers to the first several questions.
Sadly, e-mail providers often include some sort of tracking code in the headers to know who does and doesn't fill out the surveys. So, the actual results may be collected and aggregated to be anonymous, but someone still knows who all has and hasn't responded. This is why and how online stores know who hasn't reviewed their recent purchases and sends them nag reminders to do that just that, for example.
Related to COVID, I might have mentioned earlier this year that an entity's online form required for entrance into the building silently collects some sort of personal information despite not asking for an e-mail address or phone number because subsequent visits already had my information from the most recent visit pre-populated in the form. At the time I suspected that maybe they secretly stored a device-specific ID from those submissions.
IMO something should be expected (probably lawsuits over strikes if Horgan doesn't cave given the messaging risks), not so much because they care about the vaccines themselves, but as you mention for the potential precedent it sets for future union negotiations.
Today, one of the big 3 automakers was announced to have been asking workers to voluntarily disclose if they had been vaccinated -- supposedly so the automaker would know what sorts of policies regarding distancing and such need to be in place. Meanwhile, the UAW has stated that they haven't been approached about this or the possibility of vaccines being required for its line workers. So, we just might see how this plays out with unions on a truly national scale.
The bad part is that this enforcement is inconsistent, which causes a lot of worry in daily life as to whether you'll be allowed in or not.
This has been the biggest gripe that myself and most normies I know have had. There's no rhyme or reason to the enforcement and it largely depends on whether those in charge have higher-ups demanding strict enforcement. Similarly, it seems like most enforcement is either heavy-handed/strict or minimal/non-existent with no reasonable in-between.
This is why I'm concerned that my paying side hobby will be subject to the same inconsistency. The one county I do most of my stuff in just updated its mask rules to be consistent across the county. There's one site, however, that's in an adjoining county and I have no idea what policies if any will be in place; and, I suspect won't be adequately disclosed in advance even if anyone asks about them.
They're preparing to fully exclude any unvaccinated and unrecovered person from anything but the basics of life here.
I wonder if any of them even care about, or realize there exists, those that cannot be vaccinated for legitimate medical reasons.
I see a lot of these coming from liberal Christians on my social media feed.
I suspect these come from areas whose Christian leaders are politically. In my part of Kiwiland, the bishop is liberal and always send out information each election encouraging people to vote for liberal candidates that are pro-union and who will treat people wishing to enter country (illegally) with dignity. Thankfully, not everyone reading that stuff buys into it.
I find that with most people when talked to individually without the threat of the mob hearing their words, will admit they think the vaccines are a bunch of bullshit, even a lot of the vaxfags.
I totally agree. I know someone who lives in an ultra-liberal city and makes social media posts saying all the thing those around her want to see and read lest they start a callout campaign. However, her opinion is quite different when the two of us talk one on one.
It's nice to see the Supreme Court make it clear that trying to circumvent their previous ruling isn't going to work this time.
Remember when they released prisoners because they could catch covid in prison?
I remember when they stated too many people are in prison for whimsical reasons even while people were being threatened with arrest, criminal charges, and jail time for violating COVID restrictions.
