Taliban offensive of 2021 and collapse of Afghan government.

Britain pulls the plug on Kabul airlift: UK will start getting soldiers out of Airport as Boris tells of his 'great regret' at leaving 150 Brits and 1,100 Afghans behind despite fears they will become Taliban hostages

  • On Friday night, the MoD said that that 14,543 people had now been extracted from Kabul since August 13
  • Now, Operation Pitting - the name for the British evacuation effort from the capital city - is drawing to a close
  • Muhammad Niazi, a British Afghan who travelled from London to help his family at the airport, has been named as a victims of Thursday's suicide bombing. His wife, youngest child and daughter are still missing
  • Afghan TV presenter tweeted out pictures of a number of those killed in Thursday's horrific suicide bombing
  • Several families were devastated by the blast, with the death toll currently at 170, many of them young adults
  • Presenter Muslim Shirzad spoke to the MailOnline about the victims, saying: 'The generation which should have been Afghanistan's hope has now become a generation of frustration and escapees'
  • It comes after it was announced that two Britons and the child of a British national were killed in the bombing
  • After Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab announced the deaths, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he will 'shift heaven and earth' to get people out of Afghanistan after August 31 as he confirmed the British deaths
  • The announcement of the three deaths came as Pentagon officials in the U.S. said that there was only one suicide bomber involved in the attack, and not two as had been previously reported

America's prayer? Not three more years of 'Sleepy' Joe Biden: Liberals thought Trump was a disgrace but have found their saviour to be a shambling, reckless danger to them and the world

The deaths of at least 13 American servicemen and more than 150 others in a double suicide bomb and gun attack in Kabul has plunged Biden into the greatest crisis of his presidency.

It has also helped reveal the essence of the man who said he would lead us out of the chaos of the Trump era.

A politician who came to power on a ticket of competence, empathy, foreign policy experience and simply not being Donald Trump has been found out.

You are actually able to be courts marshaled when retired. It's rare and held for really horrible cases (like rape or CP), but it does and can happen. If convicted, they lose their pension.

EDIT: I should also caveat that it's typically in line with a serious criminal charge, as military pension is not considered earned income, and therefore is not stopped when convicted of a lesser crime.
Isn't that for crimes committed while one was in the military and evidence or investigations were gathered/completed when the member ETS'd or retired?

It's meant to stop pension for major crimes, so the investigation could come whenever the crime is committed. Again, such cases are pretty rare and used mostly so a felon won't be big banking their commissary while in federal "pound me in the ass" prison.

Bush didn't want to get into a pissing match with Iran that close to Russia imploding and risk Russia doing something really stupid because they felt like the US was going to strangle them; i.e. we are only going to get weaker, time for full-scale war is now.
I remember reading a book about this time period, there was a section about the Russian military and political class, namely the ex-Soviets now out of power and the current leadership. The ex-Soviets were absolutely gobsmacked at how advanced the American and NATO military had become over the 80s and this was the thunderbolt out of the blue that made them realize that leveraging the Soviet economy towards military goods as hard as they had been doing was not enough, and that American open economics of the 20th century was far superior. They were still furious the various SSR had split off and held that as a grave sin but Desert Storm was the moment they realized communism was a fucked system that could not be redeemed and mostly stopped trying to run coups.

Interesting.

When the US Army raped 14 year old Abeer Qassim al-Jabani and murdered her along with her entire family, and patriotic Iraqi responses to the crime forced them to actually pretend to take some action against the individual perpetrators, PFC (((Steven Green))) was charged in a civilian court, not court martialed.

Good to confirm that the US military doesn't considering raping and murdering 14 year olds a big deal.

They barely know where American citizens are in country and have no clue whats going on in the rest of the country, but suddenly they can find the exact guy in a remote area a day or two later? Blow it out your ass. This Pentagon is full of shit. Also whats the deal with the % and "Normal" stuff near the username?

It doesn't say 'the guy who planned it'. If you believe that they actually hit ISIS, and it's implausible, yes, it's just some guy who didn't take the GPS tracker out of the fat stacks they've been giving ISIS for nearly a decade.

Bolton Blames Trump for Afghanistan Chaos — ‘Negotiated This Deal Only with the Taliban’

Obama Defense Secretary Leon Panetta: U.S. Forces Will Have to Return to Afghanistan

I have seen MANY reports that Trump made this deal to trap Biden.
I........... do..............not..............care.
Without this deal we would have NEVER left.

The dumbest thing Trump ever said was "I only hire the best people".

From the time that deal was struck to the time Biden trashed it, there was not a single US casualty in Afghanistan. Yesterday was the third deadliest day for US forces in the entire war, and the deadliest in a decade.

Treat the WhatAboutTrumpism for the piping-hot, farm fresh bullshit that it is.

If anything, they cooked up the Russian Bounties hoax to stall the withdrawal.

It really is astounding how shamelessly evil the neocons are, especially when they bloviate poetic about muh principles.

Green had already been shit-canned from the Army for being mental headcase, and therefore had already lost any post-enlistment benefits; his compadres were courtsmartialed, but dragging Green into military court wouldn't have offered his prosecution any worse option for penalties. Not that it matters, because haji just wants heads.

So why hasn't Nation of Islam taken him out in prison? Y'all need to get on that.

Trump expected to win and claims he did. So is that all some 4D chess move to trap Biden?

People are deluded that there's a non-shit option at President in America. It's one thing my very anti-Trump, Pro anything else friends here don't understand. It's bad and bad. Not a choice between a bad and a good option. Biden can literally go on TV and claim all responsibility and yet the cult followers still go, "yeah it's Trump's responsibility, not Bidens."

I don't know if it's true, but I saw Pompeo on TV saying that the Afghan Government were in the room and involved with the Doha talks. So I wonder if it is just semantics, that a deal with the Taliban didn't include the Afghan government because it wasn't an agreement with them. As well as others saying the negotiations weren't finished and the Trump pentagon wanted to still leave 800 troops to back up the Taliban sharing power with the Afghan Government.

So who actually knows how things would be, Trump very well have not actually left Afghanistan. Or if he did, it may have been better. Everyone else out before the Taliban take over. We don't know, hence why this game of trying to not blame Biden is silly. He's in charge, what's happened isn't free of decisions he made or made on his watch.

I also am confused with the, "didn't include the Afghan Government" argument when we have just seen the reason why. They were corrupt, had no mandate for the people, were just enriching themselves and the second the US tried to get them to stand on their own they ran away. They were irrelevant to the future of Afghanistan unless the US was still backing them up militarily and financially. Which according to Trumps Sec of Defense they were going to do. IE, not get out.

Good to get out, but it's a cock up.

Well, the Taliban has captured three other people involved, so I'm guessing they'll be putting out some info on this before too much longer.
