YouTube is a platform that can be difficult to succeed in, especially for people from marginalized groups. And sometimes the fact that you're a member of such a group isn't made public until after you've started to build a solid foundation for your channel. This is a conversation with four trans YouTubers who came out after their channel was already going for a time.

So it appears Jim Sterling is in a panel discussion with four other Youtube trannies, hosted by Natalie Wynne Nathaniel Wayne who, if you haven't heard of him, is the 40-year-old crossdresser-turned-genderspecial who vlogs as The Council Of Geeks, typically in videos about Doctor Who with a social justice slant.

The channel name might suggest the videos involve some kind of audience participation (he signs them off with "You are the council. I just run the meetings.") but this is of course limited to commenting in his heavily moderated echo chamber of a comment section. A council in name only.

Wears a she/they pronoun badge in most of his recent videos.

The other main panellist is Jay Exci, best known for making a 5-hour video essay about why woke Doctor Who is utter garbage. (He doesn't say it's garbage because it is woke, but does repeat a lot of criticisms that the anti-woke crowd are making.) He even appears on EFAP from time to time.

All of which might lead you to believe he's kinda based for a tranny. But his tweets confirm that is far from the case. Has a lot of NPC takes and pretty much the same opinions as Nathaniel about woke Doctor Who (that is to say, they both wanted to like it for woke reasons, but having both been fans of it since before the woke takeover, are aware the newer episodes are objectively worse).

He also once called Stonetoss a cunt, and then did a Surprised Pikachu face when Stone and his fans made fun of him for tranny stuff.

The other two panellists I haven't heard of. May Leitz was mentioned in passing on Nathaniel Wayne's Natalie Wynn's thread (Damn it! Why do I keep getting those two confused?) And I don't think Jessie Earl is notable for lolcow stuff. Either way, we'll find out in a few hours.

I don't think it'll be a reckoning as much as a complete and utter burnout, especially as more and more big series try to pivot towards the live service model. They're about to learn the same lesson all the MMOs trying to compete with WoW did in the 00s.

That is the other really annoying thing about Jim, though, I agree. There is merit to a lot of the things he argues about, but he blows everything so far out of proportion ("Bobby Kotick makes too much money therefore we must abolish capitalism") that it's just annoying to listen to. He's like the guy who got super into atheism in high school and suddenly had to start arguments with anyone he could corner and make sure they all knew that religion was stupid and he was really smart and original for thinking this.

Yes, Jim is a born-again SJW.

You see the same shit in people who recently converted into a cult or a more hardcore sect of a religion: it's usually people with low self-esteem (troons are infamously bad at this), who make what they feel is a big life-changing decision out of peer pressure/grooming, and in order to be able to tell themselves they were right in that decision they try their hardest to convert other people into making that same decision.

Look closely and you'll see the same evangelical zeal and refusal to look at facts when their beliefs are challenged in Jim as in one of those firebrand born-again Christians who keep seeing the devil lurking behind everything. It's the same thing: projecting their insecurities outwards and trying to get "confirmation" that they're right by converting other people. Just, instead of the devil, Jim in particular sees "capitalism", "gamers" and "transphobia" everywhere.

Now that you've said it, I can kinda see it too, the effort to preach and convert that is. I did not saw it before because of how shitty and ineffective he does that. The whole point of missionary work is to attract new people to your religion. Looking at Jim I can't envision him attracting somebody who's not agreeing with him from the beginning. When this guy, Martin L., posted his list of complaints on the church doors, Vatican, amongst other things, reflected on how they were doing missionary work, what flaws it had and how to improve it. They've even created a whole new Congregation of propagation of faith exclusively to work on this. OK, I understand, religion bad and any mentions of archaic and opressive religious institutions are blasphemy. Jim likes communists. Lenin was indisputably a communist. He, on more than one occasion(dude, trust me, because I can't be bothered to search for exact quotes) talked about how propaganda of communism should be efficient in order to win against all other propaganda. Also Lenin once said: "Learn, learn, once again: learn". Now guess what Jim isn't doing. Because efficient presentation of your ideas is a learnable trait. It can even mitigate the negative factor of having visuals of Jim Sterling. He just choses not to.

Thread tourist here, sorry. I'm surprised to see May there, feels pretty bad - May is NyxFears, a youtuber who reviews horror movies. I started watching Nyx when he was a funny goth, but then he trooned out. He has very recently removed all his older pre-troon videos, which is a damn shame because they were very good. He's dating another goth MTF and has already had facial feminisation surgery, which he crowdfunded. Somehow his videos are still pretty good, but he is falling deeper and deeper into the troon subculture now.

For all we say about Jim's appearance, and it's mostly true, it's also somewhat neat. It's very obviously some of the traits of womanhood over-imposed on those of manhood, but past the fact this signifies a failure at passing, it's not downright deprecated.

The host, with the necrodyed hair, however ? That's gendertrash, just a grown man dressed like a 6-years-old girl who's been given free access to the daycare's stash of dress-up costumes and some make-up. And a piercing machine along with hair dye, which I do not recommend you put in the hands of a 6-years old.

And that's by no mean praise to the remaining three, two of which simply have...nothing of womanhood (In fact I had to google them to make sure they weren't actually FtM). Which is, I'll be honest, better, maybe not for them if you asked, but certainly for my eyes.

I liked his content for a long time, I think it was the interview he had with Digital Homicide that really woke me up to how much he sucks.

He does this interview with them and he's 100% in the right but the DH guys argued circles around him and Jim would occasionally throw in a weak, sheepish one-liner. I don't even know why Jim sought it out if he's too much of a doesn't-order-pizza-unless-they-have-online-ordering introvert to actually do it.
Then there was just constant unfunny sketches and "Hey look, boglins! I like boglins! Get it!?"

He loves to blame his recent troonery for the decline in subscribers, but I think it just gave a physical manifestation to the change in focus his show has been going through. He was something different years ago, now he's just another boring entry in a sea of "gender politics first, video games last" content factories in games media. People saw the changes and it made them reevaluate and decide they don't want this. They can find this anywhere and they're sick of this.

Being striaght and non-trans is the new punk. Then again i don't care since punk is a 80s thing that died when they got old and realized it was a waste of time. Then again being a gamer who likes aaa games if there good or shocker fun is now not important. Then again fun is subjective Yakuza and Death Stranding are both equally fun for me. This is the core issue people like Jim don't seem to get, and the main reason I think his audience is leaving in droves. Because Jim is perpetually miserable, he assumes everyone else must be too.

In reality, it's the year of our Lord 2021, and most people are over the perpetual outrage mentality, especially in video games. Even if you agree with everything Jim believes, there's nothing enjoyable about tuning in to watch/hear a clearly miserable man bitch like a child; I'd rather get that info from someone like Critikal, who covers a lot of the same topics as Jim but in a light-hearted, comedic way that makes it entertaining instead of depressing.

I don't know if it's just getting older --probably not since Jim is my senior-- or a broader cultural shift but I'd rather just enjoy things now, and if I can't enjoy something I ignore it and move on to something else that does spark joy. Life's too short to be angry all the time.

That's age. Welcome to the better side of life. If only the youth understood things like this. They wouldn't be youth though if they did understand.
