I don't disagree, it was present at the time of writing the article and the extreme levels of violence that spiraled out from the Floyd riots were a decent backdrop for his article and how lessons learned abroad were being brought home by both sides. I can't remember a period of time starting in the 20th century where a full riot detail was solidly pushed back into their own stations days at a time like Minneapolis which ended up with a huge portion of the city being looted and burned out. During the Rodney King riots there was just a massive crime wave all at once and the police just did nothing as they had no manpower, leading to the Roof Korean Meme. The Floyd rioters would actually contest, overwhelm and often times beat the police riot forces across the country. During the Floyd riots the police would vacillate between entirely useless and invisible, and ruthlessly flying off the handle at any perceived slight by working people who weren't doing any crime.

This is a good example of the security forces of the state just attacking people who aren't doing anything, the police are
COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY IN THE WRONG both legally and in terms of public relations, these people are on their own property, a porch, and thus abiding by "the curfew." Police are not there to deal with the black sheep, the state has realized they're incapable of controlling them and has surrendered vast amounts of land which have become "the ghetto," the police are there to herd the regular sheep by snapping at their feet like a work dog.
The question starts being asked "What purpose do these dipshits serve when they refuse to provide security for the people whom are paying them?" Thats when you start getting blow back and dissolution like Afghanistan just went through.
