Assuming this is like every other Uni in the US I've seen, this isn't her email or a method of contacting her.
This is her way of signing up for classes, managing her financial aid/scholarships, checking textbook requirements, and basically everything else that actually matters for being a student (aside from actual classwork, depending on what the school uses for that, I think TTU uses Blackboard?) The email she uses for the school is probably still active, but *this* being deactivated says a lot imo.

Can confirm, if her account is actually deactivated this speaks volumes. We would expect her email to still be active. Although I graduated 15 years ago, my university email is still active; likewise, my niece dropped out of college last year but her school email still works.

My login info for the student portal, however, is inactive and would require a number of safeguards to reactivate (I just checked it to see what it would say). I didn't attend TTU, but assuming they are similar to my alma mater, the only communications in the student portal are from administrators, like admissions counselors and student aid - she wouldn't need to ask for it to be deactivated to prevent unwanted communication.

A friend who knows about college says it is strange, but suggested the sysadmin could have hidden it due to inquiries.
