Because average joe won't do that kind of work without some kind of income, and everybody who has morals on staff was driven out or 'killed' (See: founder Aaron Swartz) by the time 2015-2016 rolled around.

The other angle is Reddit was never designed with this level of overbearing moderation in mind, the upvote/downvote system was created specifically to handle most self moderation of the community with only needing outliers fielded by mods or admins. The fact you can get permanently banned for 'voting wrong' on the site shows how far its fallen from its original ideals.

I tried to enjoy reddit, as some parts of it seemed very compelling, but there is something in the updoot and ban/karma systems that makes people into worthless bugman you feel filthy interacting with. These are the kind of people who show you the door the moment something goes a little wrong, and tell you that this is how the world is, you either put up with it, or get out.
It always feels good when I see people like that infighting and self-destroying.

I wonder if the admins are holding back on r/NoNewNormal because there's still dissent regarding the banning of 2,000 subs last year and an attempted takeover of r/WallStreetBets. The Reddit majority probably didn't care when r/incels and r/greatawakening got nuked several years ago but surely their long war of attrition against r/The_Donald (which was at one time a very popular sub, I believe it did at least get top 100) did not go unnoticed.

We already know Bardfinn has a Discord account because, LMAO, he himself had posted a screenshot of his own Discord account on Reddit, thus openly admitting he had one. The evidence of Bardfinn having a Discord account and being active on Discord was all gathered and presented here:



My guess is that Bardfinn was part of these leaked chats, just under a new alias and a new Discord account we haven't connected to him yet. We know that Bardfinn uses sockpuppets and throw-away accounts because he himself admitted to doing so. Bardfinn uses RES (Reddit Enhancement Suite) to browse Reddit for the very reason that RES allows him to register and switch amongst multiple sockpuppet accounts while infiltrating subreddits that have already pre-emptively banned him.
