reddit General

The same reason you're banned, under penalty of law in many countries, from questioning anything about the Holocaust. The Coof is now a Universal Truth that, in the words of the Reddit mods themselves, 'isn't up for debate'.

These smoothbrained cunts cannot fathom actually looking at an issue from every angle, weighing up all the possibilities and drawing your own conclusions (which may still end up being the general consensus). Once they get fed official_opinion.txt that is the only possible reality and they will believe it until such times as official_opinion_v2.txt drops and then they will immediately forget everything they knew about their old opinion and adopt the new one.

Remember, when the Coof started you were racist for pointing out it was something we should be concerned about; now you're a dangerous right-winger (and probably still racist) if don't consent to the government welding your front door shut.
Remember when everyone said not to buy masks, because it was “selfishly taking resources away from healthcare workers”, and then backtracked with “oops, our bad! Wear a mask—wear two masks!”

As long as r/sissyhypno stays open we'll be okay.
As long as it generates many a new cow to provide milk

So, Reddit jannies believe that people on their left-leaning site, who were not convinced by politicians of both camps, the media, the WHO and every doctor on TV to get vaxxed will FINALLY listen and get the poz-load if the Reddit mods tell them to do it?

:story: :story: :story:

The unwarranted self-importance is amazing.

I dunno… apparently listening to an AI tell you that you’re a bimbo over and over again can turn a fine upstanding citizen i to a degenerate stunning and brave trans woman. Who know what power the jannies hold?

The admins don't want users to form an impression that there are coordinated large-scale efforts behind the scenes to manipulate the site "unfairly." Reddit owes much of its (undeserved) popularity to the superficial image of fairness it projects, so the admins have to at least feign disapproval of widespread backdoor collusion. In situations like this one where the exact details actually leaked, the admins are forced to very publicly disavow and flex against it just to try to ensure users don't think the admins themselves were involved (if possible).
Yeah, there was some line in spez's response to the initial petitions about punishing groups that are trying to "manipulate Reddit." A lot of people read this as being aimed at the subs like /r/NoNewNormal (which I believe gets accused of brigading other subs, which is a standard complaint against all targeted subs), but I think the real reading is that it's a warning to the jannies that these sorts of coordinated protests are something that they may not tolerate in the future. If Reddit wants to go public, they're going to start to have to face questions about whether allowing activist moderators to dictate sitewide policies (ie. ban viewpoints that they dislike) is really in the interest of the company's bottom line. Other social media platforms don't have these issues - maybe there are alternative solutions to the powerjanny problem that should be considered.

The one that will always stand out in my mind is everyone calling Trump racist (day ending in a 'y', right?) for wanting to close the borders then several months later, with hundreds of thousands now dead, asking why he didn't do more to prevent the spread.

Hi, jannies, we love you and fully support you privatizing all the subs you can get your greasy estrogenized hands on!

On a different topic - old image, but in 2020 118 out of 500 most popular mods were controlled by the same 6 (six) people. :story:

i'm going to remind you that if you refer to our esteemed stalwart internet custodians as jannies, not ONLY did you engage in a transphobism, but you were also being classist on top of that.
Even worse, you're implying that jannies perform a useful service.

I keep seeing people say they do it for free but there’s no way that’s true. They’re providing their time and effort to the Reddit corporation. There’s no way they don’t at least make minimum wage, right?
Some of them are certainly paid a stipend by outside sources to push a narrative, but Reddit itself certainly does not pay its moderators.

Hey Jannies friendly reminder that most of us have reddit accounts we use to troll your subreddits. We do this for free just like you and our reward is laughter and yours is dilation. You will never be a woman. We have much more motivation to turn your own user base against you than you have to not to join the 41%.

Please come here to announce yourself so we can mock you more.

Truth be told, a lot of this powermod cabal don't do it for free. I know GallowBoob has been caught several times advertising for various corpos or activist orgs that want reddit's attention, and it's presumed that behavior continues to varying extents across the group. So they aren't paid by reddit per se, but a lot of them are getting paid.

Imagine the mentality of these people thinking their favorite subreddit being shut down temporarily merits the attention and time of fucking Congress :story:
:story:
Stupid jannies. Congress doesn't give a fuck about r/hypnoporn being shut down.
These are the same damned people who both 1) wanted to storm congress on several occasions during Trump's presidency for various reasons, including Kavenaugh's confirmation hearings, border wall discussions, and so on and 2) openly mocked Trump supporters who proposed mass-writing campaigns to congress to demand recounts and investigations into well-documented election fraud.

i.e. they hate the very congresscritters they hope to appeal to and they mocked other people for trying what they're about to do to make that appeal.

Stupid people are really entertaining sometimes.

Some have Patreons for simp money, some like Trench Titty/MrBabyMan 2.0/GallowBoob actually get paid to promote shit (the famous "netflix" video comes to mind, when /r/drama called GallowBoob on his shit and the admins came to his rescue).

Reddit really needed to cap how many people can mod subreddits but now its too late. Its jannies all the way down.
