Just checked the one subreddit i check in with once in a while. They’ve mercifully managed to stay out of this bullshit entirely.

Yeah, they banned /r/the_donald for rule-breaking, not Trump support. After Trump was out of office (or maybe shortly before, I forget the exact timeline) and in lockstep with the other demonstrations of performative outrage that were expedient at the time. There's no cultural moment for Reddit to co-opt here. It's just a straight-up cry for censorship from a small but powerful clique and as such is going to be much more divisive.

Their son or unfortunate daughter will eventually blow their brains out, having never had the pleasure of their parents looking down from heaven and being pleased with what they saw. In two weeks their body will be found due to the abhorrent smell noticed by their muslim neighbors, who will thank Allah for never having to set eyes on the creature again. They will die never having made a worthwhile contribution to society, infact they will have fought to make it worse. At least that's how it plays out in my head.

The_Donald was banned literally half a year after they completely moved platforms. There was no posting on the_Donald. You literally could not post or comment, and this occurred after they tried to forcefully remove the mods and replace them with the power Jannies.

If you haven't been following how reddit works, right wing subs are either A. Outright removed (RaceRealism), B. Spammed with lolicon from AHS while their mod is asleep, or C: over analyzed to hell until the find something in the case of The Donald.

Either there was a 6 month queue to go through before the ban or it was the admins being retarded. We both know which was which.

I mean, yeah. The theory that explains this is that Reddit was just afraid of the PR backlash of banning /r/the_donald until it was clear that it was "safe", which didn't happen until Trump lost the election. [Edit] I'm not saying that it wasn't politically-motivated, of course, but that there was a clearer pretext for banning /r/the_donald then /r/NoNewNormal, which requires instituting a new rule that nobody (including its advocates, who would simply steer a very wide berth around it) would understand and expecting moderators to enforce it.

It's also again a problem of the rough tools that Reddit uses to not only ban communities but also "evasion subreddits". Trump support isn't banned but anywhere that gets a sufficiently high concentration of Trump supporters probably will be. So if /r/NoNewNormal is banned then people will try to make new subs but they'll get banned as evasion subs. So instead they'll start filtering out into subs like /r/conservative and /r/conspiracy, which will then become targeted and have to institute the sorts of very broad "no vaccine skepticism" rules that I mentioned before. But no one knows what that actually means.

Funniest shit I've seen is r/StarTrek going private, then some nigger made r/Star_Trek to fill its absence in the meantime.

I'd hope this shitshow ends with a total jihad of jannies and the assblasting causes Reddit to collapse, but that's fucking optimistic. Best part is the worm med sub being meme'd on and doing a better job than this whole shitshow of janny pride.

It was June-July 2020 that it was officially banned, it was dead for 6 months before that as everyone moved to win. It was actually a positive thing that reddit did this because it created win and now all subreddits that are in danger of being banned immediately set up a win and start advertising. I'm not sure how much faith I have in win, but consumeproduct is still allowed to exist there with even with the anti-zog/nigger posting.

I'm actually pleasantly surprised Reddit admins aren't straight up deleting subreddits that don't follow the narrative and are deleting spammers complaining to the point I'm suspicious.

The admins absolutely support these antics and agree with them completely. They don't always have the option of allowing these schemes to play out, though. Sometimes they're forced to stop them (very publicly) to avoid bigger problems.

There's two things that will typically force the admins to reign in their useful idiots. One is when they're about to go absurdly overboard with an action and/or their plans for it get leaked publicly (like it did here). If jannies scheme something like this and manage to keep it quiet, the admins will still pre-emptively stop it if they're targeting too many subs at once or being otherwise excessively aggressive.

The admins don't want users to form an impression that there are coordinated large-scale efforts behind the scenes to manipulate the site "unfairly." Reddit owes much of its (undeserved) popularity to the superficial image of fairness it projects, so the admins have to at least feign disapproval of widespread backdoor collusion. In situations like this one where the exact details actually leaked, the admins are forced to very publicly disavow and flex against it just to try to ensure users don't think the admins themselves were involved (if possible).

The second thing that'll cause this is one of reddit's funding sources clearing their throats and "suggesting" intervention because the "wrong" bad people are being targeted and that could cause the purse holder some problems. Sometimes it's better to allow a group of wrongthinkers to stay on the site where they mostly keep to themselves, as opposed to nuking their sub(s) and causing a stir that might draw unwanted attention to the group or the people attacking them.
