Hopefully this whole damn headache prevents our government from doing another "Endless" war in the Middle East. But then, a finger of the monkey paw might curl, and we could be having the military patrolling all major cities in the US, so I'll try not to be too optimistic.
I think some SubStack writers have put out articles warning of the coming "Domestic War on Terror" and how an empire that gets militarily humiliated abroad will "turn it's forces inward."

But given how much of an "the emperor has no clothes" moment this has been for TPTB, I'm skeptical that they would be able to successfully pull such a thing off.

It's also a very kind thing to do, of a sort. If you support him but know politically he's going to be run out of town on a rail, you could get him in the medical retirement system, keep it gummed up for long enough that he qualifies for his 20 years and full pension, then quietly get him a medical retirement. All the while any political operatives like that woke faggot general would be placated with "he's in a nuthouse it's fine he's not going anywhere."

4D Chess? Trump demanding we go back in for the foreverwar, committing acts of War against the Taliban might just ensure Sleepy Joe doesn't.
What I believe happened...a former commander, now with at least one star on their shoulder, talked with the Commandant. Gist of the discussion - "This guy served under me, great combat record, took great care of his Marines. Have never heard him talk about blowing anything up except bad guys. Would you mind if I got him evaluated, got him some help?" The Marine Corps is rather small. The infantry officer community is small. The number of Marine generals is small; they often know each other well.

So you have an old boss working to save the ass of a guy who did a great job for him in the past, get him help, let him retire quietly, maybe medical retirement. Not the first time such a thing has happened, won't be the last. Loyalty up, loyalty down.
