T_D was banned before the election, when that protest at the Michigan legislature happened allegedly some (((T_D))) members said the protesters with rifles should have shot the Michigan state police that were there so the sub got yeeted at last
Right, that’s why it was a “war of attrition”. From 2016 on, they blocked them from r/all, enacted bullshit rules like no cross-linking to other subs, quarantined them, and finally blocked the mods, so they told everyone to go the new .win site instead of the presumed plan to astroturf with new mods and make it anti-DJT. By the time they finally killed it for good, it was more or less inactive.

I had an account for about a month. I was using an obscure electrical engineering subreddit. Someone posted a question about getting a PLC to communicate with a computer. In the course of explaining what to do, I referenced a specific part, a gender bender, so that the necessary cable would work with the person's USB port.

It's legitimately what the part is called. Went to sleep. Next morning found out I was Perma banned from the subreddit and I had about 30 messages from the mod accusing me of hate speech, harassment, and stalking.

I guess the subreddit community, and even some of the other mods, made fun of the top mod for overreacting to a proper engineering term and over the course of the night, my account was banned and unbanned repeatedly. Eventually I guess that top mod won.

The whole subreddit got nuked the next day. Then I noticed I was banned from like every single subreddit on the main page or whatever. So I left.
God, just imagine the uproar if someone asked for advice on a loose wire that happened to be superfluous and you told them to dike it out.

Those aren't the subs going dark, just the ones that posted the copypasta and pinned it. The list of subs going dark is much, much smaller. If you read the leaked logs most of the mods are shitting their pants and are unwilling to go dark out of fear of being removed by Reddit admins. This is as far as things are going to go.

Lol oh no, r/feminism will go dark. This list of subreddits could all be culled and Reddit would be a much less cancerous place. And even worse: r/Startrekdiscovery is offline too. R/Pokémongo is collateral damage though. I feel like even the people at the top of the tech monopolies are starting to realize that what they’ve created might just make a world they can’t escape from, which is why they’re hedging their bets and hoping the more sane people will win.

"Don't say 'kill all t/jannies'; say 'allowing t/jannies to exist is irresponsible'".

I'm amazed the administrators haven't come down hard and forced open all the privated subreddits. At this point, just mass ban all the power tripping mod accounts and immediately hold sign-ups for new ones.

Letting ban bots run free, auto banning people for posting or even looking at several subs is quite a new low. Just like Twitter, whole communities are going to gatekeep themselves to extinction.

I'm wondering if they realize this is getting bigger than they realize and killing big revenue generation...

Ideology > profits... for now at least

That's nothing new, Bardfinn, who is one of the leaders of this gang, has been posting for a long time about wanting to get /r/conservatives banned. This is not a secret, he openly posted about targeting /r/conservative and /r/conservatives here:
I honestly don’t understand the amount of seething that the mere mention of Donald Trump is able to cause. I don’t like him myself (mostly because I think all politicians are shitty people, but also cos his fake tan is shit), but I’ve handled that pretty well by avoiding places where people talk about him a lot (much easier, now that he’s not president anymore). It’s like these people go out of their way to find things to be outraged about. I can’t even imagine being arsed to spend time on a subreddit with a bunch of people who like something I don’t like, much less actually waste energy trying to get them shut down.

isn't this at least the second chimp-out by reddit jannies in a few months? It happened when that pedo guy was made an admin. and this has been happening in years past too. surprising that reddit still allows this to go on without making an example.

Reddit has been like that for years because the supermod group, run by an actual chinese communist, runs a banbot for hundreds of subs. If you posted on Kotakuinaction or T_D you instantly got banned from hundreds of subs

Probably gambling that the jannies won’t private the more noteworthy subs. I think r/holup is the only big sub to go private. All the users of r/startrek going to r/star_trek is less controversial than booting all the powerjannies.

I have no doubt that the admins just purge the offending jannies one by one down the line, which is why they all shit their pants when the ringleaders were leaked. Siouxsie used to run like 75% of the big subs and got banned last year for shitstirring, n8thegr8 and seb are probably next. They won’t get rid of powerjannies completely though unless shit really hits the fan, they just provide too much free labor.

BTW, has anyone of y'all determined if Bardfinn is participating in these chatrooms under a new and yet unknown alias? Bardfinn swore up and down that he doesn't have a Discord account but he has to be involved in this shit, it bears all of his known features.
Lardbinn isn’t in the powermod clique and isn’t in their discord. Nobody on Reddit likes him either, he’s just really loud and probably knows an admin.

If bardfinn was in there under an alias you’d know immediately because of his incredibly obvious writing style.

I got caught up in that months ago, never posted on T_D though. I left when I got banned from r/StarTrek for commenting in r/Star_Trek. It was the weirdest, most petty thing in the world. They have a way overzealous bot and super shitty mods, that will ban you for merely participating in a much, much smaller alternate sub. I just wanted to talk about a stupid TV show. What kind of power trip is that? I've never seen a group of people try to own a fandom before. That was when I realized how insane that place was. I would not have believed it until it happened to me.

Speaking of which, KF needs a Star Trek thread. Just saying.

So any bets on which video game subreddit will also go dark, just to follow R/Pokémongo's example?
