Agreed. There are certainly good people in the bunch but that bunch is massive and I'd wager over 90% of the people aren't even ones who helped us but family at best and randoms who got lucky at worst.
Even of those who did help us, they are not usually the cream of the crop but are just guys who know enough about the area or the languages to serve as better than nothing. I worked with a Pashto linguist who was deployed once and he said they sent him out one time without informing one of the local interpreters he spoke the language and it turns out in that case the interpreter was leading them on a goose chase intentionally and shooting the shit as much as he could just to have a safe, good-paying job.

I don't hate Afghanis and agree we should help those who help us, but our generosity is the foolish kind.
