I hate this reality. I don't think there will ever be any light at the end of the tunnel. We can't have a disagreement, we can't have a difference of opinion. People are just universally awful in a way I could have never foreseen in my youth.

I just look out at the wastes of the world and wonder if there were choices we could have made that would have altered our fate or if the slide into tyranny was inevitable. At least people can still have discussions and arguments here without requiring cutting out a man's tongue to feel they won the argument.

FatPeopleHate, CringeAnarchy, ConsumeProduct, Coomer, and now NoNewNormal? Fuck reddit, and fuck the jannies that pull this shit. No proof, but I saw a claim that said a Pedo sub went private in "protest," so a bunch of them flooded NNN with comments about molesting kids, and possibly cheese pizza, which is how they, allegedly, got r/Coomer banned. Either agree with the hivemind, or fuck off, I guess

@PittyKitty Forum hates me/your post/the world and isn't giving me a Reply button on it, so ghettoreply activate!

Archived your shit. Ripped PDFs of 5/7. Nature says it has a PDF but doesn't, so here's an archive. Science.org is paywalled and I lack access. Semantic Scholar and ResearchGate both give no joy for a workaround.
Here's the Science.org article, I got it from Sci-Hub (www.sci-hub.se).

Instead of worshiping The Science, we should be worshiping the Science-Hub and its saint the holy Ms. Elbakyan.

The more this untangles the worst it gets. How long until can't keep this charade any longer?

Few months /weeks ago saying vax contains any particle was a conspiracy theory and yet here we are.

Plus wtf is with inability to replay?

One step closer to the massive Minecraft event that'll probably lead to everything blowing up where the only option is to let it all burn and rebuild on the ashes. It's coming.

@Heinrich Maneuver
Haven't seen any posts about Scotland's vaccine passport (is the archive, fuck the Times) and England apparently set to introduce it 'days later'. Fuck me feels like they snuck that up on us, completely missed it in the news. 'Major research' has found mandates make people less likely to get the vax (archive), i wonder why. Government accepts advice to start giving out 3rd doses (archive) : / RIP to nonewnormal

I saw this and shrugged. They massively over-estimate people's willingness to along with this tripe, vaccinated or not. You have to show passports to go to a club? Fine, I'll go to the boozer or drink at home (many people prefer to drink with friends in home-made bars). Can't go to a footy match? Fine, I'll go to a pub and watch it with friends.

My tinfoil guess is that the passport is a way to REDUCE footfall in places, so that companies can build stock going in to Christmas.

Slightly OT: Companies in the Uk are struggling to keep their shelves full, or in some cases, even half-full, and this is during normal times. Brexit and covid may take the blame, but the fact is, a massive shortage of goods is looming and will be catalysed by chrismas tat. If you think of the shite and bollox we buy at christmas, and only buy at christmas - because who the fuck wants an inflatable santa in March, then it should dawn on you that a lorry full of peaches will be shit-canned in favour of a lorry full of tinsel.

Turkeys, Brussel sprouts, branston pickle, crackers, jumpers, tinsel, wrapping paper, mince pies, sherry, pigs in blankets, and all other assortments of Christmas only shite will take priority over normal goods.

Let's not mention how Wetherspoons is running out of booze. Imagine a New Years Eve party where the only places that have alcohol are the ones where you need a jab passport. You won't have to imagine it for long, because it's going to happen.

This Christmas is going to be the best Christmas ever.

One more thing, that NYT article (I know I know) also says that 1.3 million tests were run looking for other flu strains but they were all negative, which is why they think the flu disappeared.

EDIT - also yeah, I'd like to see more of these case studies (or link me if you already posted about this in the thread), thanks.
17 coinfections, with added implication that catching both makes your outcome worse: https://virologyj.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12985-021-01594-0

4 cases of coinfection, but the authors argue their outcome wasn't any worse than others with solo COVID:

Here's a review of 13 total cases from early in the COVID pandemic, but the total known cases becomes 38 by the time its peer-reviewed. They tacitly support the hypothesis that reduced influenza https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/jmv.26167

I'm not being edgelordy, and i may have already said this, but i don't give a fuck. I hope everyone who took the jab dies. I hope all of the people involved in the jab, die. I hope all of the top scientists, media-figure heads, national leaders and any other cum dumpster who pushed this fucking wankery on us, dies.

They will. It might take up to 100 years for all of them, though. Remember, 12 year olds got it.

I may be fired in a few months if I am not fully vaccinated by then according to an email written to us recently by my company's leadership. (It is dubious how they will do this without breaching several layers of personal privacy for each employee)

I booked an appointment after but then cancelled it, the money may be nice but I only have one life and have a family history of heart issues. Instead I will update my Resume and save some money for rent. If I can't get a religious exemption for work that is done remotely at this time anyways then I guess I am getting another job. The hysteria surrounding vaccinations as we go into further lockdowns and mask mandates is ridiculous and the media/leadership perpetuating the endless fear is actually one of the most evil things I have seen.

Tony Blair wants a global vaccine passport, because we need tourism or something.

Travel restrictions are disrupting international trade and holding back recovery from the trillions of dollars the pandemic has added to world debt. To stem the damage and open up the world safely, we need a global vaccine certification system — an undertaking that will require the political leadership that only the Group of 20 can provide.
Admirable attempts to reopen borders have been made, but these have often been piecemeal, unilateral and transitory. Frequent changes to entry protocols have left passengers confused, while mandatory quarantines and multiple tests are prohibitively expensive and impractical, and not necessarily science driven. This is not a sustainable model, given that we will be living alongside Covid for some time.
Consider the evidence. Restrictions have delivered a hammer blow to global tourism — responsible for one in 10 jobs around the world — and risk causing wider and deeper damage. Businesses are unable or reluctant to send employees to other countries to meet customers, stifling innovation and straining relations.
And on Monday, the European Union removed the United States from its list of countries whose residents are deemed safe to enter the union’s 27 nations without quarantine and testing requirements, though it will be up to each member state whether to follow the restrictions.
The solution lies in the global certification of effective vaccines for travel. We know vaccines can significantly reduce the likelihood of infection and transmission, and it is a testament to global science that we have developed vaccines and administered some 5.2 billion doses so quickly. But without recognition of these vaccines across borders and the ability of people to prove their vaccinated status, this progress will not result in easier travel.
This could be accomplished by a seamless, global, data-driven system to recognize vaccines for travel, track their changing effectiveness, and certify a person’s vaccination and possible booster status.
This requires two things: an interoperable, cross-border data system so countries can exchange information, and a global coordinated program in which countries recognize vaccines for travel that have not been approved by their domestic regulatory systems. This would allow individuals who have received effective vaccines to travel to any country that recognizes that vaccine for travel purposes.
The Good Health Pass Collaborative, a consortium of digital health credentials providers, has developed a set of technical standards for digital vaccine and health passes. These should be adopted by the global community. The QR code on these health passes should have the capability to work across the world. We believe the G20 can become the gatekeepers of these standards to assure they work globally while protecting people’s privacy.
This system is one side of the solution. Its success will be reduced if an effective vaccine is not recognized in the country where the health pass holder wants to travel. That is why the distinction between domestic regulatory approval of a vaccine and its recognition for cross-border travel is critical.

To complement this system, expanded global genomic surveillance systems run by international groups such as the World Health Organization and other entities would help track which vaccines work against which variants so that countries could update the vaccines they recognize based on the latest data.
A country shouldn’t be expected to approve every vaccine. This is unrealistic given the robust approval procedures of the regulatory bodies of many nations. Instead, there should be a central list of vaccines that countries recognize for travel purposes, based on data and real-world evidence of effectiveness.
A good starting point for such a list would be the seven vaccines approved by the W.H.O. The list has to be dynamic and data driven, because not all vaccines may work against all variants, and nations should have the ability to make science-driven decisions on allowing potential variant-susceptible individuals to cross their borders.
An overreliance on domestically approved vaccines will leave the world grounded. Of the vaccines recognized by the W.H.O. as effective, just four are approved in Britain and the European Union and three are conditionally or fully approved in the United States. There are some countries where people’s vaccinated status is not being recognized because of the vaccine received.
For example, Washington has not said whether it accepts Britain’s proof of Covid-19 vaccination, so the government there recommends that its citizens traveling to the United States follow entry rules for unvaccinated people. Since certain vaccines approved in Britain, such as AstraZeneca’s, are not approved in the United States yet, there is also confusion among British travelers about whether it is accepted in the United States.
We must act quickly. By the end of the year, at least a seventh of the world’s population could have received two doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine. Without recognition of this vaccine by the United States for travel purposes, it could mean that over a billion vaccinated people would not be eligible to enter the country without quarantine.
Of course, travel policy is a sovereign matter, and each country or electorate must make its own decisions about the level of risk it is willing to take, but there needs to at least be the option to recognize the reduced risks of those travelers who are fully vaccinated.
We acknowledge all the challenges in taking effective action at the G20 level, but there’s an opportunity coming just next week as the G20 health ministers meet in Italy. The G20 should plan to put a system in place before the holiday travel season this winter. Establishing a consistent and workable travel policy is essential for a safe and expeditious global economic recovery.

@PittyKitty GOT HIM! Peter Marks worked at Genzyme and Novartis!

EDIT: Holy shit, Genzyme is evil as fuck. Now part of Sanofi, which has crossovers with AZ's cancer drug department and some company called Kiadis, specifically to get one of their COVID drugs. Sanofi also is a shitbag company, they pushed a dengue fever vax knowing it was unsafe. Nice.
In November 2009, fragments of stainless steel, rubber, and fiber-like material were discovered in some of Genzyme's drugs. The FDA found these materials in Cerezyme, Genzyme's treatment for Gaucher disease, a rare genetic disorder that can lead to life-threatening organ damage. The FDA is permitting the drug to stay in the market, due to a lack of adverse events, and a critical need for the product.

I can understand that. While I have a bunch of people I cared about who took that shot, at this point I cheer for covid to win. I think the next species that inherits this world will do a better job.

Big Doug Ford just passed a vaccine passport here in Ontario today. It's supposed to be based on a QR Code, connected to an app, from the sounds of it. Looks like he just made sure Mad Max gets my vote in a few weeks. This shit sounds like a logistical nightmare. Imagine having to wait in line for even longer to get into a movie because everybody has to scan their vaccine passports now, in addition to their movie tickets. It's funny, everybody I encounter that actually supports it is an old white woman. I know of nobody else in real life that wants to deal with this bullshit

It's not about COVID, it's about dealing with these fucking tossers all of our lives. These pushy, uppity, smug, fart sniffers who are always fucking wrong, but won't accept it or be humble and say "my bad". Their stupidity makes our lives harder, their mongoloid fucking brains means they're more likely to buy marketing bullshit and push for consooomerism, even though it fucks our planet, something these same fucking mongs want to 'protect'. Except, they don't want to protect it, they want to make you feel bad for not following along the 'protection' directions given by big corps and media.

These people deserve what they get and I hope this is it. I hope they've finally put their money where their life is, and will now pay for it. God forgive me.

aside from the obvious thing wrong with this, i'm against mandatory vaccinations and pro-choice so

@HymanHive I want to disagree, but I really can't. And yet I can guarantee that there'll be a marked decrease in manufacturing quality, like everything else over the last year. A lot of people are going to be trying to pretend that life is normal and christmas is great, but half the crackers won't crack and the tree will have dropped all its needles by the 22nd.

It's funny. I've travelled all over the world and I've seen places that once had a burgeoning middle class, but stagnated and lost it all at some point. The people who live there now sit in all the faded trappings of a better time, pretending desperately that they're still as comfortable as their parents were, but they're all desperately poor and deep down they know it. Most telling was that their clothes start falling apart weeks after they buy them. They've sunk into a hopeless fatalism of denial and pretence.

We've been slipping into that for a few years already; EU membership only acted to create the impression of greater wealth and prosperity than we actually had. Truthfully, we've never recovered from the malaise of the 70s, we've just dressed it up in fancy bunting and cheap tinsel, and told ourselves that everything is just fine.

Time for a drink, I feel.
