For some reason I can't quote
@Dusk 's posts but I'm tickled by Lou's idea that the US invaded Afghanistan for oil (which it doesn't have) and opium (which the US govt has spent the last 40 years trying to destroy, not acquire).
Uh-oh. Hopefully this isn't a Sixth Sense scenario. Class starts next week. But yes. We invaded Afghanistan because of 9/11. I'm very basic terms, we wanted Osama bin Laden, and we also wanted to overthrow the Taliban. Now, our allies in the area were, and I cannot stress this enough, child-raping, opium-selling warlord pieces of shit, because they were the only locals with power who weren't Taliban. But then bin Laden slunk away into the mountains, and our allies were such degenerate freaks that people started begging the Taliban to come to their towns and execute their local warlords, and it turned into a decades-long quagmire. I come from a military family, so I take a dim view of these global dick-measuring contests started by people whose sons won't be the ones to die when things go sideways, but we owe it to the discussion to get our facts right when opposing these stupid, unwinnable wars.
Edit to avoid double-posting, here's a re-up of Lou's twitter. THIS IS AN ANTI-KIWIFARMS ACCOUNT YINZ GUISE
Yes. By living, we do mean sleeping and eating. Or, as it is commonly called, "living." What kind of parental assistance do you need at THIRTY-FUCKING SEVEN? You need mama gags to wipe your ass for you because you're too damn fat to do it yourself? And no damn lawyer is going to be able to hook you up with a tugboat. You don't meet the requirements. The government isn't gonna give you free money just because you called the lady from the billboards.

Being depressed is not an excuse for being lazy. Yes, depression is very physical. I've felt it. It makes you tired, heavy, it fucks with your head, your stomach, your muscles, puts you in a stupor. But most people who have severe depression still have to go to work. They clean their houses. They take care of their children. It's a struggle, but sitting around in a stupor only makes your mental state worse. Adults have to find a way to take care of themselves. I'm sorry, but this doesn't generate any sympathy from me.

Just a rt, but I thought it was very considerate of Lou to provide this resource for the people he's scammed. It's true. Shitty people DO take advantage of naive do-gooders. See Exhibit A.

E-begging RT. If you don't have money for a crib, wtf are you doing with a baby. And shrieking at the people you're trying to milk for cash is always a good strategy.

I just thought this was funny. I'm half NA (dad grew up on a reservation for realz), and can confirm that all of these are sacred rites of my people. Freaked-out white people are the only ones who would be offended by this--except for Lou, who is a real-life Cherokee princess.

I was so excited to see C. S. Lewis on Lou's Twitter page, because (as anyone who has read The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe knows) he is a super Christian literary figure. The Narnia series is basically the Bible, but with talking animals. But Lou doesn't know this, so I'll let the irony stand. Now, the kinds of childishness that Lewis is defending are
interests. Stories and activities that some might judge as not being serious enough for an adult. Lewis isn't saying that it's OK to be a NEET failson who doesn't have a job and lives off his mommy. He's saying that true adulthood is about feeling secure in your passions.
