MMA & UFC General - Featuring Bellator MMA & Rizin Fighting Federation

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
Injecting copious amounts of black market PEDs, with god knows what in them, is totally cool, but a FDA approved vaccine? Oh no!
Add on that before this he was going "oh no, I just want it to be FDA approved first" in a really obvious way to deflect. I think his opponent Gaethje just said straight up "don't want it" and didn't try to snake his way around the issue.

Honestly, the heavyweight division has really always been that way, even during the heyday of Pride. I don't think there's ever been six elite fighters in a single heavyweight division at once.

Pretty much this. UFC has Ngannou, Gane, Stipe (assuming he's not shot and old), Blaydes, Volkov...the rest have one trick, and if it doesn't work, it goes to shit. I'm sure there might be a few more like Aspinall who show promise but have to climb the ladder.

I'm not putting Lewis in there because he is everything bad with heavyweight MMA, while also being good. Same with Rozenstruik, who looked like garbage against Reem just because Reem went southpaw.
I agree with these. Heavyweight has never been "deep."

The funny thing about it though is that nobody can hold onto the belt. Stipe has the UFC record for Heavyweight title defenses with FOUR. Randy Couture has three. Velasquez and Lesnar both have two defenses. That's it as far as career multi-title defenses at Heavyweight.

@Salubrious, Well this weekend we do get to see someone who I think could be a top contender fight - Tom Aspinall. Seems quite a bit like Gane in being skilled and powerful, but unlike Gane doesn't want to be pushed hard and quick into the top tier.

I think maybe as the years go on we might start seeing more Ganes and Aspinalls who can make the division deeper, but until then it will always be rather shallow.

Edit: Very weird, sometimes I can reply to people like @Hollywood Hulk Hogan but other times I can't, which is why you are being tagged.

I don't get that, either. Sometimes I cannot reply to people, either. I do not have you on ignore, so that is certainly not the issue.

Got to suck for Darren Till being a card headliner and being the only Brit to lose on the card. No ability to do anything on his back and it really looked like he was having PTSD flashbacks to the mauling by Woodley. Could have maybe gotten Brunson out of there in the 3rd if he didn't "see gold" and spaz out, letting Brunson get the takedown. Pretty clear the UFC were hoping Brunson would just stick his chin out and get cracked by Till, but that clearly didn't happen.

Aspinall was great as expected, got the spaz Spivac out of there quickly. Really living up to the hype of being one of these new generation HWs.

Rountree Jr doing what Jon Jones could only dream of doing and fucked his opponent's knee up with that stomp. No doubt more complaints about that move will come up.

Pimblett...yeah he's going to get knocked out at some point with his chin that far up. Imagine being so bad that you get outstruck and KO'ed by Pimblett, a man known mainly for his submissions.

Anything else? Jack Shore looked good against a loser of the TUF season as he was meant to...yeah, about it. Don't know what they can do with Till now, since for some reason he's still "the great white British hope" that the UK loves. He's still young, could eventually work the TDD out, but no idea what to do with him.

Maybe Paddy ends up taking his place as the next hyped white British prospect, but I don't think so with that chin as up as he had it. He's going to get slept at some point by a strong LW puncher. Aspinall imo is too humble and playing the long game to get big British support like Bisping and Till (both big shit talkers, which Brits love) did, at least until he starts beating top guys and getting to a title run, then he will get it.

Pimblett's personality is solid and appropriate for high-level MMA competition. But I know, in my heart of hearts, that someone is going to sleep Pimblett so badly. He keeps his hands at thigh level, throws punches without putting his other hand up to his face, leaves his chin up and falls forward, failing to maintain balance.

I swear to God. If someone like Vendramini can check hook this guy and give him trouble with his hands in the opening minutes of round one, then imagine what the better lightweights can do. Any competent boxer would send Pimblett into next month. Paddy gonna pad sum bad muhfucka's record, I tell ya

The posters for the upcoming UFC events are pretty damn sexy. This is how you do promotion.

Of course, I'm not just limiting this to the latest ones. I literally have a big collection of UFC posters for past events that I thought had a really cool design (i.e. nice color palette where the colors do not clash or blend too much, rim lighting, creative positioning of the fighters, good placement of text, etc.)

Yoel Romero suddenly shrinks from 6 feet to 5'10 once he moves over to Bellator, no doubt in another demonstration of the UFC inflating the stats of their fighters. This means that "chad" Luke Rockhold at 6'3 got murdered by a comparative manlet. Don't know if this fight will be good, or if it's going to be like that fight Romero had with Izzy.

It is a thing that I have noticed about the UFC lying about their fighter's height. One example I can think of is Alexander Volkanovski's height of 5'6, where in regional Aussie competiton before he fight he was listed as 165cm, or 5'4 inches (meaning that Max lost to a manlet twice).

Man, if you know who Jamie Mullarkey is, then you can't forget his debut fight with Riddell. Mullarkey got hammered. Now that I think about it, Mullarkey, Pimblett, Diaz, Brendan Allen, and Tony Ferguson all fit into a category of fighters that are great at BJJ and have good cardio but look like fish out of a water when they're trying to showcase their striking.

He got hammered but didn't Riddell also take some licks in that fight? All I remember is that in the last seconds of the fight they were both on their knees and Brad was firing shots to Jamie's face.

In that regional Aussie fight for their belt with Volk he got slept in the first round I believe. Shows how damn hard he can hit if he needs to.

A lot of those names you listed seem to rely on toughness and cardio and "creativity" to get through the striking. Ferguson looked absolutely terrible the last few fights, even before Gaethje, and Diaz's unique "boxing" is incredibly limited and relies on him having an iron chin and better gas tank. Pimblet is going to get slept quickly if he doesn't tuck his chin.

Edit: Smith v Spann card. It was ok. Motivated/Angry Anthony Smith is the new mythical fighter. Kinda feel bad for Spann, been open about his mental health issues, gets his first main event, and gets clowned on easily. Devin Clarke is going to need to see a dentist, and Ion's sudden increased gas tank/pointy nipple are suspicious. Tsarukyan is very legit and Joaquim Buckley's corner really shined as a good example of how to understand and corner your fighter.

Jon Jones at it again, taking yet another L when facing the cops. Domestic battery and tampering with a vehicle. This nigga just can't stop himself. He's going to completely self destruct once he retires and has nothing to do. Arrested after giving a UFC hall of fame speech. Never change Jon, never change.

Jones just proves karma doesn't exist. He still got to keep his belt despite arguably losing to both Santos and Reyes and still gets to be rich as fuck despite being a total piece of shit

If LHWs weren't so bad, he wouldn't get away with it. He did look like a shell of his former self in both those fights.

Without even paying attention to Jon Jones's activity that much, I knew a domestic battery charge for him was coming from a whole ocean away. The guy just has too much anger.

I do think Jones deserves it though. His fighting skills were just awful, and his win streak came against awful opponents. Santos and Reyes beat him, but even they were not perfect, along with the rest of today's light heavyweights.

From now on, Jones is really just going to fade into obscurity. I haven't even heard any Twitter buzz about him in the past several months. You really have to wonder if he just wasn't saying anything or if people don't even care.

(tbh i'd lowkey still like to see Adesanya VS Jones)
