I wonder if this would apply to spreading misinformation about companies outside of Japan, though? I can see them deporting a person for breaking a federal law in another country, but would they bother if it’s only a civil case in the US, and his victim wasn’t Japanese? Any law fags care to comment?

- that Near did in fact kill himself, and the successful veiling of his identity online, the culturally secretive nature of the Japanese government, and the ineptitude of the US State Department combined into a perfect storm that has made his suicide unverifiable, or
- that Near didn't kill himself, let the whole internet believe he did, continued to say nothing as the Farms was DoSed off the Internet and his fake story got larger publicity, came up with the "official story", and found people to provide cover for him, all with some larger aim of sabotaging the forums in exchange for his online identity

The whole thing with the USA Today article is there's absolutely no sign of verification that Wayne Beckett was the actual 'Wayne Beckett', or that Byuu was actually his employee.
For all we know, the cunt that wrote that article contacted them through KF after looking for a juicy hit piece to write for the contentz. The only information provided in the article that wasn't already public knowledge were two photos, which were for all we know also public at some point in time, through Twitter, Facebook, etc.

And according to Hector himself he had already confirmed that the authorities reported Byuu dead on the 28th which would've been reported to the US embassy the same day. Not sure if you're joking, but the answer is unironically autism. Having high-quality cycle-accurate emulation is important for the future of preservation, and it's something you can only easily do when you have real hardware that still works allowing you to test out all the nuances and esoteric bullshit. You might not think it matters beyond "mario world plays fine with no lag", but I'm very glad there's retards out there willing to spend their time making emulators (and subsequent documentation of the hardware) as accurate as possible.
