Voting options for the ''free elections'' of Fascist Italy - the texts says - ''Do you approve the candidate list of the Great Council of Fascism?''
The Yes option has the Italian Tricolore, while the No option is white, so the blackshirts could see if you voted ''No'' and take your name.

Censored image of the first Ceka/GPU/NKVD/KGB director Felix Dzerzhinsky. Dzerzhinsky was considered the founder of the Soviet police and nowadays he gets the same treatment by the Russian police, but back in his time he considered himself a secular saint of sorts and in this picture he's sort of emulating the Last Supper of Christ - notice how the chair decoration behind him also gives him an halo similar to those of Orthodox Saints. The Soviet government didn't approve of this naturally.

>In 1974, in the aftermath of the OPEC Embargo, Congress passed the National Maximum Speed Law as an ostensible fuel-saving measure but also to reduce the rate of motor vehicle fatalities on American highways. This limited highway speeds in the US to 55 mph; states would be refused Federal highway funds for not complying. Several of the mountain states were allowed to retain a 70 mph speed limit due to their low population density. Kansas Senator Bob Dole led an unsuccessful attempt to block its passage. The 55 mph speed limit was highly unpopular and difficult to enforce, but remained in effect for a decade. In 1984, with gas prices dropping, Congress lifted it in exchange for the promise of states setting their minimum age to purchase alcohol at 21. The repeal of the National Maximum Speed Law was effected three years later. A number of states still retained 55 mph speed limits into the 1990s.[45]

This picture always confuses the hell out of non-americans because they don't realize this is just an area build along a major highway for travelers to eat, refuel, or if they're really exhausted just take a night in a hotel.

Edit: If you want a better 'Corporate America Bullshit' I'd suggest a more modern look at NYC Times Square.

Yeah, that's an offramp. The actual town is probably 10-20 miles away.

You just swing off, take care, then drive another 200 miles.

But the one of Times Square NY isn't too bad.

Given the massive traffic the desire to slam every single piece of advertisement makes sense on a corporate level, this one is from 2009. I've been to NYC more recently and it's a little overwhelming how many adverts there are from the ground level. It's utterly coated.. though that's also not indicative of all of NYC.

I just think it's a better 'American Consumerism in a Snapshot'.
