Can someone on a proper computer hit F12 to bring up the developer console? I wonder if there's lots of angry red text, if both scripts and images are having issues.

Nope, tried it on a page in the Biden News Megathread that had some broken posts and didn't see anything puking up errors in the console.

I'm having the same problem.

I think it says a lot about me that I assumed it was a faggy moderation thing, like I was banned from quoting my own posts, or quoting posts that mention me because I'd broken some invisible forum rule. But upon closer inspection, it appears to be random.

I can quote this one
Can't quote this one (my own)
Can't quote this one
Can't quote this one
CAN quote this one
Can't quote this one
Or this one
CAN quote this one
Can't
Can
Can
Can
Can
Can't
Can't
Can
All posts from the same thread.

And whenever I can't quote a post, the Quote/Reply buttons don't appear when I select text from it.

I'm going to be honest, in spite of what my resume says, I'm not familiar with Javascript. There doesn't seem to be any big red signs indicating bugs in the developer console, but as we all know that doesn't mean there aren't bugs lurking in the code. Popping open the source code, I can see that there is something happening with the action bar on the posts that are unquotable.

Here is the second post ITT, which I can reply or quote:

Frank Darbo post.png

It has all three actions in the action bar below the post. Compare to 0 1's first post:

0 1 first post.png

Missing the two actions in the action bar below. It also has a broken select to quote:

no selection quote.png

And that's as far as my limited knowledge takes me. So for some reason, it appears that on these certain posts, they are losing the two actions in the action bar, and the select to quote feature is not working, despite apparently having the same classes as the posts that are quotable. I'm inclined to agree with Positron, it seems to have to do with post length as long posts and posts quoting long posts are affected. My own first post ITT is unquotable (why didn't anyone tell me?!) and so is the one directly above this one. I'm going to bet that this one will be as well.

For reference, I'm using Brave on Uwubuntu, and yes I use the kawaii theme.

I am randomly seeing this as well

Edit: Very weird, sometimes I can reply to people like @Hollywood Hulk Hogan but other times I can't, which is why you are being tagged.
So is he. I do not have him on ignore, either, so that is not it

Just started for me as well.
Users in the guitar discussion thread said the same.

Had a couple posts of Texas abortion sperging not let me quote either. Jersh confirmed bought by reptillians

Good to know I'm not alone. I thought it may have been because I've been lurking a bit, but I also gather it's possibly another one of those weird things that's been happening here, since there seems to be little rhyme or reason to what one can quote and what one can't.

Personally I'm in no great rush for a solution, I'm happy to be patient. I'm just also happy it's not just me.

This is such a big problem to the operatation of the forum that I'm surprised it hasn't at least been commented on by admin after a couple of days ongoing.

The guy running the site is on vacation. In IT, there is a rule that everything goes to shit when you step away from the mainframe, even if everything was perfect for years before.

Also relevant is the bus factor: how close you are to being unable to fix something going to shit, measured as a quantity of people.

Quite frankly, I was under the impression we had a bus factor of 1 and I'm shocked we even recovered from the downtime a few days ago.
