General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

My count on Fauna's stream was clearly way too low due to the limit. Kronii passed 1000 SCs (at least $17000) in the first 10 minutes of this stream.
At the time of this comment, she's got 2757 SCs, for at least $47298.

But I guess there's no need for me to continue with my little throwaway counts, because:

I didn't know SocialBlade showed live SC revenue. Can't find it on their site, is it part of the extension or app or something?

By the way, I've been thinking about this, and I don't want to sound like this is tribalism. I see lots of fanworks contents, like song, animation, and games from Hololive...but where's Nijisanji fanworks? I know they also have fanarts and cosplay and all, but where's the others? Where's the music and remixes? Where's the indie games like Ame's and Korone's? Where's the meme video? Where's the animation? Where's the porn? Where's the clips?

The many Hololive fanworks, involving all branches no less, reminded me with the state of Touhou fandom years ago. Both the west and nips made lots of doujinshi/fanworks back at its heyday. Sadly I haven't seen much from Nijisanji fans' side and it made wonder about it

Was Kronii's superchats open right from the start of the stream? I'm curious, because socialblade completely blew the total for Fauna's stream according to what was posted yesterday, as well as what was on /r/hololivestatistics. The only thing I can think of is that when a live stream starts, social blade checks if Superchats are enabled, then doesn't check again for 10 more minutes (it's refresh time). And Fauna waited a bit after starting the stream to turn them on, and if it was during a refresh window I think it missed all of those superchats because it wasn't even tracking them.

Niji are huge in Japan, I'd aruge bigger than Holo until very recently. I've seen a ton of Niji livers on random collab things vs Holos in very targeted otaku market in places like Akiba.
A lot of Niji fan stuff is missed if you don't follow the correct JP twitters or get on some moonrune only boards.

Holo have definitely won the west though, as much as I love Finana and Selen they aren't even close to HoloEN in numbers.

Kronii enabled them much earlier than Fauna, but not immediately at the start -- about 2 minutes into the stream (she has chat on-screen, so you can see the first ones roll in).

Still, then why nobody seems to be translating that to english? Again, if we use Touhou fandom back then as a reference, there should have been already some people translating things here and there

So there are fangames, it probably just is harder to circulate in the West

A part that I think Hololive really did well early on is to make the subreddit the official "hub" for sharing Hololive announcements and content, and have the talents (Coco, Marine, Calli, Haato, etc) feature content from there, which creates a feedback loop of posting more content. Any new games, fan art and fan content can easily be posted and shared there.

Niji has only recently started to use their "official" subreddit but hasn't necessarily advertised it as the "place to be for Niji content".

There are translations of Niji clips, but it's happening slowly. Still, better than nothing.
