All of my favorite bands, if they had any idea how I felt about politics, would want me dead. Joke's on them, I want me dead, too.

Of course, this means I have to limit my library because I haven't fully separated the art from the artist. *sigh*

Yep. This is what Jacques Ellul was driving at in his landmark 1957 study of propaganda. The nastiest part of sustained propaganda techniques, when applied to a population, is to damage critical thinking skills and replace them with prepackaged opinion content that functions as an automatic, nonrational reflex. Basically, reaction images/macros on a psychological level that affected people spam in offline reality.

I'd say "The Pandemic" has ascended to the status of a myth, in the original religious sense of a story that has implications for how to view and act in the world, on both an individual and civilizational level.

I'd link the fulltext of the book but I think it's still under copyright. You can find the 1965 edition without much trouble if you're a fan of ORGs that ARCHIVEd community texts on July 9th, 2021... <cough cough> Or, if you have JSTOR access to their sociology collection, they have the original 1957 imprint.

Smoking isn't even allowed in bars where I've moved to for work. Fuck this shit. Its dumb. Allow smoking in any private place of business that wants to allow it. Don't like smoking? There will be plenty of places that don't allow it. Go there.

Here in Victoria the chairman of the ruling party, and it broke his heart having to tell us this, announced plans for a 'vaccine economy'. Only the double jabbed will be allowed to access any public amenity which will include restaurants, pubs, sports ball and large gathering events like weddings. No word as yet if going to church or buying food from the supermarket will also be included but given we're ruled over by a psychopath I expect it will. To access the 'privilege' of buying a beer or attending your child's wedding you must download an app which will link your vaccination certificate to a QR code. To download the certificate you must consent to having your medical records linked to your government online account, which means any approved person can access them. The expectation is that continuing to enjoy these privileges will be dependent on partaking in the booster program which will be rolled out later in the year. Happy days.

I thought I had the right idea about the vaccines being fake, but I was wrong. I was fucking wrong. I've been feeling like shit ever since I went out last Tuesday without a mask, and a few days later I find out from the doc I actually have COVID. It's real, I should've listened to the facts, and I'm going to go take the vax whenever they have an opening. Fauci actually had a point.

Make sure you guys wear a mask out there.
