Genshin Impact

I got spooked with Raiden C1 way before pity so I impulsively rolled 80 more times to get C2 because it's a huge power spike. I got pretty lucky to win the 50/50 each time. I felt irresponsible dropping half of my saved primogem stash which I've spent $5 a month for. I can't get into the mind of someone who would actually spend 100 or more real life dollarydoos for a character or weapon. And then act happy with their purchase after the fact.

I guess this banner in particular has brought out lots of latent gambling addicts getting suckered into dropping hundreds for C2 Raiden and R1 Engulfing Lightning because, if you listen to Reddit, she's worthless without all that. I've read some sobering accounts of people realizing how easily they fell for "just one more swipe" to get what they want.

I finished the inazuma archon quest and thought it was pretty thrashy. Like, it was RWBY tiers of underwhelming.

-Most of the cast does fucking nothing. Some of them do LESS than nothing like Gorou. You can literally delete his scenes and nothing changes.
-Kokomi never meets Raiden, gets tricked by fatui and has less screentime than generic npc that dies lol.
-How THE FUCK did those motherfucks at the resistance not realize their soldiers were using delusions? Did gorou see people spiting fire out of nowhere and think that was normal?
-Also holy shit delusions can make you die from old age in A FEW DAYS? Is this why the Fatui enemies have white hair??? Why would you employ soldiers that are effectively killing themselves?
-Scaramoche is trying sooo hard so be edgy it gets boring. I cant even laugh or cringe at him.
-Jesus christ Yae and Raiden never shut up. Muh eternity this muh eternity that i still have no idea how any of that works.
-Signora comes out of nowhere and fucking dies. I didnt hate her or anything but i simply started laughing.
-Wow they really redeemed the kawaii the dictator. But was it really her? Or was it her twin sister / puppet / clone ?Who cares, she just wanted to protect her country so it's all good.
-Kazuha wakes up elec vision for a bit so when we get the first dual vision character (who will break the game in half) releases, everyone claps for the foreshadowing.
-Traveler gets that power of friendship and somehow beats an archon. It's all downhill from here.
-We're just blaming everything on fatui like no fucks given. There is no sign of the abyss either.
-Scaramoche takes the gnosis offscreen so they win again, yaaay. I guess we're doing this thing 7 times in a row?

But i dont want to sound like those whiny players who are mad just now. I'll be that guy and say i didnt like the previous story quests either. Monstat is basically "pls help me find my dragon". Lyue felt like 95% fetch quests for childe and zong.

The worst about Inazuma is how the big sidequests are WAY more interesting but the main plot ignores it. Like, Ayaka is sad about the vision hunt decree but what about the broken wards? The nonstop storm? The not-nuclear reactor in tataratata? The trees that attack you on sight? All this dangerous bullshit that i'm fixing while the MC "dont want to get involved".

And unrelated to story but screw those water specters. Those assholes use AoE water attacks that heal themselves and if you fight 3 at once without space then you might as well run away. I was fighting a few and one straight up went underwater and kept attacking/healing from there. Huge hp, self heal, homing attacks, flight and suicide bomb. I actually liked fighting the samurais but these ghosts are cancer.

You fellas better not expect Ganyu so soon, leakers shown the next abyss boosts pyro and water damage so i already gave up and accepted 2.2 will be Hu Tao + Childe rerun, with 2.3 probably being Yae + new 5*. As someone with Diluc, should i try getting hu tao even without homa or zongli? Is Diluc as uber thrash as the memes say? He's pretty much the only male character i use so i'd hate to bench him.

Yo, about Hutao. There's an unconfirmed leak, that those new elemental wolf enemies would ignore shields in some way and apply bleeding, that would still work after switching(or may be even applied to the whole party at the hit).

So I've gotten both raiden and the weapon I've decided to slap on her up to an adequate level. Said weapon is a spear you unlock the crafting recipe for by doing things in Inazuma. It shares the whole "full party buff" aspect where it randomly takes away 3 energy but then gives back more energy than what was taken to the full party or some shit like that, and it can trigger when the character assigned to it isn't out. Due to this combo I've unintentionally created the most horrifically broken monstrosity if I have Klee out. Remember how I said overloaded reactions fucking kill things freaky fast? Yeah so raiden shogun's move thing adds a secondary electro hit on top of all party members attacks so i think you understand exactly what's going on there. It evens out though because klee for some reason dies extremely easy now, or at least she would if I didn't have qiqi since day 1 playing this thing. This method works with pretty much any pyro character. Go and KILL.

tbh I don't play it for the story, I can accept it being there for an hour or two to give a reason why we run from A to B and how we meet new characters, especially since parts of it are "FF14 seventh astral era" tier filler. fwiw inbetween you got stuff like that stormterror showdown or raiden/kazuha confrontation which are just KINO AF.
but yeah, inazuma felt rushed, first they drag it out forcing you to play through ayaka's and yoimiya's character story, then boom next patch it's over (but hey, at least it's over) while there's still an island left and worse a whole year (if they stick to yearly "expansions") with nowhere to go to. maybe the rumors of mihoyo scrambling to rewrite it in a few months are true.
I assume the rest of the cast will get their moment in 2.2 with the new island, otoh kokomi already drops in 2 weeks so again no idea what the plan is when an albedo re-run (just to get it over with) would've made more sense; or it's a cunt move to lean more heavily on the FOMO when you never know when and if a char will come back. one explanation could be 2.2 is the christmas patch, but then again they don't really celebrate that and rather focus on chinese new year (and we've long moved on from mondstadt anyway). maybe the whole story's just frontloaded to set up a status quo we have to deal with in the next patches, who knows.

- signora's ded, lul. guess people have to go back to lisa for the "step on me mommy" char.
- also ballsy move, you know waifufags would've whaled hard for her.
- interestingly that also leaves it open if we ever get scaradouche as a playable character, no more "everyone gets redeemed and becomes a friend" - talk shit get hit
- literal "walking while talking" moment, I can see where the sony money went. although the conclusion was visually impressive and satisfying at least.
- kazuha got it's moment to shine and after snuffing out signora (and possibly sara) there was a legit "how far are they willing to go" moment.
- nice show don't tell nod to his character story trying to-reignite his friends vision.
- twins part didn't go anywhere but was a nice unexpected twist nonetheless, also adds a new mystery to what exactly went down with khaenri'ah,
- yae miko being infuriating sassy, fox form never. also wasn't the kitsune supposed to be dead?
- didn't mind the delusion part, I didn't assume it turns them into superheroes, just boosted their abilities hard enough
- what I did mind was tabibito suddenly having a mass effect 3 moment, I know it's not a RPG but caring about some random npc felt a bit off and only happening because the plot required a setup
- also leaves open the part where delusions come from, if the fatui need the tatarigami to create them doesn't it mean they're fucked now? are there different types of delusions (which would explain the different effect)? etc
- whole thing getting bumped up 2-3 notches were the attention to detail, the visions are gone from the statue to the point it has a small effect on the world as well guess where they went, then check

all in all genshin/10, would play again. even in it's questionable state definitely beats current year woke writing, even standard hollywood writing since you can never anticipate where they're going with it next (good and bad).

the catch is better if you play her with c2, ER + burst damage buff.
kitain cross is only nice if you just use her as off-field turret. in theory you could even put the millelith set on her for some buff shenanigans (should work on paper, never looked into it)

The Inazuma Archon quests definitely suffered from pacing issues, but also wasn't really helped by climaxing in the beginning of the second act (you know where). While Monstadt and Liyue plot lines both had issues, they at least had the high points at the end of the final act. Inazuma's plotline was also completely spoiled in the first act if you were paying attention and heard the mention of a specific character (by description, not name) and you knew more or less what was going to happen, just not how. But at least most of the sidequests are pretty good to make up for it, with the exception of Tatara Tales. I don't see how anyone thought that quest was a good idea.

As for the boss...meh. Kinda flashy, but not difficult. After Childe and Azhdaha a bit of a letdown as those two will wreck your face pretty quickly if you play stupid, whereas with her you can just charge ahead and attack with little danger.

I might have a chance at C2 Raiden by the last day of the banner, after getting caught up on all the quests and most of the primos scattered around Inazuma I'm only 15 away from soft pity once again. Now that I actually read what it does it seems too good, I guess I'm falling for the meme.

@LucasSomething yeah, hu tao's very much worth it. i don't have homa either and i'm still able to absolutely wreck the shit out of pretty much anything

I meant compared to Diluc. As someone with a 5* pyro main dps, is it worth spending on another one? Is hu tao SO MUCH STRONGER than diluc to justify betting my primos and benching a dude i spent a long time training and like playing? Does anybody with both even bother using diluc to compare? I'm the kind of player who prefers having 1 of each options than everything so i dont waste any investment.

Either way i already decided to focus on a 5* wind/geo support next since i have none. I know zongli/venti rerun sounds unlikely but hey, if Childe can get a second rerun before albedo then anything is possible.

And PSA for anyone who wants Raiden C2, they actually corrected the description to mention the 60% def ignore also affects her skill procs during her burst, so it's actually stronger than people thought (but not my much).

Hu Tao is so disgusting that my whole team is basically full HP Zhongli and her. (She is C1 and I got lucky enough to get Homa too). The other two are just there to break Abyss mages' shields. But yeah, don't invest in another Pyro if you already are happy with Diluc

If you already built up and enjoy playing Diluc, I say stick with him. Hu Tao is great, but if you're just looking to fill a role, she's not going to offer you anything that Diluc isn't already providing. Yeah, if you number crunch it, she out damages Diluc, but a lot of her game plan is conditional on stamina and health management, which Diluc doesn't have to worry about as much. Also, any team that benefits Hu Tao will benefit Diluc, so even though their gameplay differs, the strategic options available to you stay the same. It's better to cover options first then go for straight forward damage increases later.

@LucasSomething Again this shit isnt letting me quote for some reason
If you aren't in love with the character, honestly no. There is a power difference but a well built Diluc with Xingqiu belts out a lot of damage already. My Diluc is 85, 9/10/10 with a level 90 WGS (5* weapon I know, but the new fish claymore will be great on him and serpent spine is absolutely bonkers) and he can absolutely destroy everything in the game already.
Also some points in Diluc's favor: Has some of the best aoe of any main DPS character, self-sufficient with energy + low cooldown E so you're getting the maximum value out of all your talent levels, and you have a chance to get more constellations as you hit standard pity + lose coinflips

If you go Hu Tao go for C1 because she uses her charge near constantly (especially with dodge cancelling).

Anyways from what I gathered Baal is an alright battery but god tier with C2?

Mihoyo is sending out update e-mails mentioning anniversary rewards that are still yet to be revealed. Maybe the anniversary won't be so shit after all, though its still weird it wasn't mentioned basically at all in the 2.1 stream (link just in case. farms has been fucky wucky for the last few weeks)

Can't help but hope for a free standard banner 5-star, but expecting at worst its just an additional 10 fates and a namecard or some shit

nah, at this point I'm sure it's just marketing so people don't miss their 10 free fates from the login bonus.
it's mainly for casuals and people who have quit, anyone else keeps up with new content more or less anyway.

or their recent raiden shogun drama gave them zhongli flashbacks and they want to prevent an even bigger PR clusterfuck (also standard 5* never ever, people whale too hard for those. they can't even put the standard 4* in the shop on their own rotation meaning you'd still take 18 months to max one)

Thanks for the replies, i think i'll just keep using Diluc regardless and not even aim for a stronger pyro main dps, at least not so soon. It's kinda funny how i used to hate Diluc's edgyness and hoped to never get him but now i'm too attached to his "totally not Riven" gameplay and hilariously overdramatic lines ("if only rain could cleanse the corrupt souls of this world!").

I'm also too used to his tall male walk speed and everyone else feels so SLOOOOOOOOW they're unplayable.

Anyways, how did you guys like the last duo team hyaukuniki whatev event? I got around ~11200 on everything, i dont really care about golding everything since it's just ores and a namecard i'll never use. As someone without xiao, chidle and ganyu, trying them out was cool least. Childe was the only one who felt fun tho. Post your strats.

1-xiao + diona / plunge + anemo dmg
2-childe + rosaria / water dmg + 100% atk
3-Ganyu + Xingling / energy + burst dmg
4-Diluc + bennet / pyro dmg + lightning strike
5-Yanfei + ningang / Charge atk + geo dmg
6-ayaka + fish / atk spd + cryo dmg

Yes, i'm well aware that Fish a dead weight there but i dont have many other options other than traveler and my beidou without any good artifacts so i dont know. It's fiiiiiiiine.

@LucasSomething My favorite combo by far was Eula + Lumine with the claymore attack speed buff. She hit so fast. There was even 2 seperate claymore attack speed buffs you could stack it was crazy.

My teams were:

Sucrose + Hu Tao / Burst CD & Dmg + Pyro
Xiangling + Ganyu / Fervor + Crit Dmg
Rosaria + Eula / Charge Attack + Physical
Barbara + Ayaka / Lightning Strikes + Cryo
Raiden + Keqing / Electro + Atk Boost
Jean + Childe / Atk Speed + Hydro

My total right now is 22,976, though I've been doing retakes for higher scores because I think the 12-person party mechanic is really fun and I want to enjoy it while it lasts.

Apparently the new event lets you fish unlimited Koi (which are needed for The Catch). Might start acutally fishing now
New days of the event might give us unlimited fish of different types too.

Edit: its golden koi to be specific. And the way it works is that a max of 5 fish are displayed at once in the event spot, so if you don't see a koi you gotta fish the undesirables out. You also have a 50 fish limit specifically for the event spot, but at least you can do it daily. Today with my fish spawns + the event spot I easily reached 20 golden koi (never fished passed the tutorial so that was pretty big for me)
