Doctors caring about money more than patient health is a problem though, yeah. Not really, individual general practitioners aren’t getting kickbacks for everything they prescribe. Shit, most doctors will bust their ass to find a generic alternative for whatever they’re prescribing if you ask. Certain doctors get kickbacks from pharma companies, no doubt, but it’s not your rando pediatrician or GP. The best most of them get are notepads and pens.

This week, a group of anti-vaxxers were protesting in my town's Wal-Mart parking lot (since the store denied them entry due to no masks), about vaccinations being the worst thing ever... but, like the virus they deny, they've mutated into something worse - anti-medicine.

As much as I joked about the subject in my previous post, there does appear to be an anti-medicine wing forming within the anti-vaxxers. Will it get nationally large? Who knows; it is causing issues in my state though:

A relative of mine stopped using her blood pressure medication, that has been taken for years with no problem, because they believe it was killing them like "the vax" will. A family friend stopped taking her anti-depression medication, which has resulted in an alcohol relapse that has become their coping instead, because all doctors are "lying communists".

This sort of "throw the baby out with the bathwater" thinking is terrifying. I get why some are being hesitant about a newly-minted vaccine, especially one that arrived comparatively quickly, but "all medicine bad" is the most retarded thing I think I've ever heard. It doesn't seem to have gone quite that crazy in Bongland (yet), but jeez, I feel bad for the US; this is going to cause untold trouble, down the road.

I think it's not only anti-medicine, but it seems to be a pro-ignorance and pro-conspiracy movement at all. A retard Facebook friend of mine posted that this Chinese stock went up 300% since Biden took office because he is pro-China and other shit. Of course, the stock didn't go up by 300% (it was more like 10%) and there's zero evidence at all of what he claims except a clip from the right-wing conspiracy blog he linked to. I pointed it out and he just said "you missed the point", when I asked what the point was he never replied

I suspect he's a A&Her except he doesn't have debilitating autism and doesn't live in his mom's basement or a trailer park

It's not that surprising that the anti-vaxx movement would grow to include people opposed to modern medicine in general. Birds of a feather flock together.

I have no idea why people are trying to disagree with actual fact via negrating that post when doctors in the US were literally caught getting kickbacks for opioids and something like 3/4 of American men were handed over to a doctor who, being a trained medical professional, knew circumcision was globally recognized as an deleterious medical procedure without clinical merit and did it anyway for the money, with no objection to the parents (or attempting to convince them). Or the doctors that advocate and/or participate in child transition therapies, or sex confirmation surgeries in general.
In all of those cases it’s obviously a very intrusive thing and only a minority of doctors as a whole are involved.
But, given those are all real occurrences, you don’t think the much wider populace of GP’s couldn’t be convinced to push for a relatively harmless vaccine for some money? They aren’t advocating for lethal injection or anything; if the vaccine is useless at worst, what reason do they have not to take the incentive? Worst case scenario they still got paid and nothing else changes.

There's one or two with liver failure on the horizon from it. Most of the people taking it enough to get sick are going to family doctors/internal medicine though, not the ER.

It's been happening around the area I live, too, unfortunately.

According to my brother, a few patients currently hospitalized with the coof suddenly stopped taking their medication despite having taken it faithfully for years, and it's fucking everything up for them even more.
