I never understood why watching a 5 hour video that says nothing more than "these shitty movies plots don't make sense" is somehow more efficient than just watching the movies yourself and seeing that... they don't make sense. No commentary that Mauler has ever given cannot be gleaned immediately upon viewing by anyone of average intelligence. Its why the new star wars movies have shitty audience scores. A normal person watching rise of the skywalker can tell simply by viewing the plot makes no sense, and mauler does nothing other than repeat this with specific examples that your brain already noticed. He has no singular, personal perspective or point of view on any movies of actual consequence that force you to ponder them in a new way.
Mauler isn't inherantly a bad guy or makes bad content or anything, and I guess he provides a service but his commentary appears to be film criticism for the special needs. Anyone with more than 95 IQ can watch the new star wars movies and see the plot is filled with holes and does not make sense. I don't need mauler for that. I guess its good that he is providing a service for the mentally disabled or those who don't just watch the movies however ( but I wonder the motivation for the later considering his video is longer than simply watching the movie)
Additionally, for a guy who pretends like he loves film, he really hasn't seen many of them has he? I mean other than marvel films and blockbusters from the last 15 years his repertoire is barren. Yet again, for a normal person that's fine, but for an alleged kinographer its a bit embarrassing. Isn't this the guy who hadn't even seen Taxi driver, a staple normal film, not even anything obscure, until forced to for Joker? I don't mean to get too autistic about gatekeeping, but just compare him to equally spastic peers like Ralph the movie maker or YMS, imperfect people for sure for their own reasons but at least they have seen a movie or two, and it elevates their commentary. It reinforces this feeling that he is the movie critic specially catering for the special needs. He only covers modern blockbusters, and his only commentary are observations anyone who isn't stupid and has seen the movie can see for themselves, namely that these movies don't make any sense.
Again, like I guess there is a market for it, and the parasocial friend simulator aspect of it definitely plays into this considering the target audience seems to be lower IQ people anyway. Good on him, I don't dislike him for what he does or anything, just don't see how anyone that isn't blind or disabled can get anything out of his commentary.
The real problem is that he hosts a podcast with a gay pedophile furry. At least YMS knows his shit with movies and has seen everything. Rags is just as bad with this mental illnesses AND ALSO doesn't have the movie knowledge. Mauler isn't stupid, even if his commentary is directed at the stupid, but rags is. Maybe that is how they became friends, Rags found maulers videos and liked them since they are targeted to mentally impaired people, and being disabled himself, greatly enjoyed them.
Mauler seems like a fairly normal guy, making his money on a career filling his niche, I have no idea why he associates himself with the gay pedo furry, I guess cus of some spastic sense of internet "fwends". Never much been a metokur fan, (he rose to the top simply by being the least retarded in a bucket of mongoloids) but his whole thing about how stupid the idea of internet frens are for public figures was spot on. His ridiculous sense of internet frens will be Maulers downfall, not any behavior directly on his own part, whether it be some rags faggot mental breakdown, something adjacent or simply the heterogenous group of friends he has built collapsing under its contradictions. Ultimately I wish him well, he is doing a public service, even the disabled deserve to know and understand why obviously shitty movies are shitty, even if their handicap makes it hard to grasp simply by viewing, and they have mauler there, to specifically spell it out in detail for them.
