I didn't hear about MSM or the case you are mentioning but there's plenty of misinformation being spread about this topic in general so I wouldn't be surprised. Particularly in the west where anything related to Russians or that general part of Europe, activity prior and during WW2 is rather less well known to general audience so they can swallow anything. I heard about actual communists, who are hell bent on shitting on my country history, to go to actual colleges in other countries, like France and "tutor" people on colleges about events that didn't happen or there are no historical evidences and they are getting well paid for it. So I wouldn't be surprised if thing you mentioned is actually correct.

I keep seeing that Janey Godley got canceled for 'horrifically racist' and 'obscenely racist' tweets from years ago. but all links to the actual tweets that i've been clicking on go nowhere or are protected. He was "the right side of history" personified, ruthlessly enforcing whatever 17th century intellectuals considered "progressive", and beating the shit out of anything the slightest bit old-fashioned.
