General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Lost track of this even though I posted the original Tweet, but Korone had her Sonic stream and kind of had a collab with the Sonic VTuber during it.

Seeing this vtuber stuff is a reminder that the more dependent we become of the internet, the more transhumanist and disconnected we become with human contact. I don't really hate it but it's the closest we are to Snowcrash or other Cyberpunk stuff especially when we have a working prototype of VRworld. It's kind of fascinating.

TTRPG coming back soon would be lovely.

Im missing, homeless people being tackled and robbed, people being run over with vans, Scouts pants coming of at every opportunity, Mushroom bombs, crazy gun weilding bird ladies, grannies with shotguns etc etc.

there has been a void in my heart.
Well Calli is back home. So there shouldn't be any more scuff. No more than usual at least. They probably put it off another week due to the 1 year anniversary stuff. I assume it will be back the week after.

Anyone got some juicy rrats on why Ame is trying to be found on a brand new, freshly rebranded sub account?
I know Pekora recently unprivated her roommate's account as well. And a bunch of other people have also gotten more active since Coco's graduation. So even though it's not a juicy rrat, I think it's just a way for them to have a backup plan in case shit goes belly up.

Though from what's being said on the grapevine by people like Luna, I don't think there's anything going on behind the scenes that would somehow warrant a mass exodus. On the contrary, it seems that Coco's departure has made Cover step into gear with trying to accommodate for their talents as best as possible. I mean, Marine couldn't even get a 1 million celebration of the ground prior, now she got it and a new costume to boot which heavily pushes what modern Cover/Hololive would deem "appropriate".

My rrat is she’s want to test how many zealot autists would follow her roommate. Not to mention, she could change it so people not confuse between her and another “sachi” in the future.

Imagine she has an impromptu stream on her old account to unwind herself, plus as long as there’s no problem happen between the two persona, she will be fine.

Probably just a backup incase something goes wrong. As much as we may want our favourite chuubas to stay as they are forever, that is pretty unfeasible, so it makes sense for her to have this kind of backup ready in the event something.

or we could just spice things up and say shes graduating once her 1 year contract is up

Marine drew Calli.
She actually drew this months ago, it was a full drawing stream (or more than one?) This new video is just that she edited it down to a timelapse.

Between all her shitpost and horny posting, I forget she is a really good artist.
And a really good singer, and a really good conversationalist. Makes me wonder if all her hornyposting filters out some people that would really like her actual content. Although it probably draws in more than it filters out anyway.

watching people be hopelessly bad at first person shooters just kills me inside.
Well then do I ever have a VTuber for you: Selen Tatsuki.
If you don't mind JP there's Botan, Astel, and more who are good at FPS, and plenty more who are better than "hopelessly bad".

Unfortunately, all the VTubers who are decent or better at FPS seem to play a lot of Apex.

Not trying to be all "You have to like what I like!", just putting the options out there.

she's a white shark

and a white supremacist
I wonder if one reason for the sudden, explosive popularity of vtubers like hololive in the West is the - shall we say - *implicitness* of the whole thing.

I know the talents are mostly Asian, but the models really don't look Asian. They all look white. Do any of them look non-white? Sana? Flare, maybe? I guess you could say Subaru and Mio look Asian, but they could also be white. (One contributing factor is that anime characters tend to have huge eyes, which is about the least Asian-looking trait imaginable).

Maybe one reason the vtubers have gotten so popular in the West is that it's one of the few sources of entertainment where you can see a bunch of "white" people doing things together without the awful forced diversity that has become inescapable in Western media.

Eh, I think you're thinking about it too hard. /a/'s eternally postulated and debated over the whiteness vs. asianity of anime characters and the result is nothing valuable. The reasons they have these shiny, large physical features is to better display physical emotions and exaggerate for the sake comedy. Whiteness of skin has more to do with royalty, than whities and Europeans even have the same depictions.

tl;dr Wondering about it is a maze with no end and better explanations exist for why animations go with certain looks over another. As Vtubers are a Japanese thing born of anime, those reasons will still echo. Characters are popular for more solid, stronger reasons.
