Plagued COVID Conspiracy Theorists and other idiots - This is not a political thunderdome or gay slapfight thread.

Nurses getting into alternative medicine is likely because they see patients dying and can't do anything about it. They don't have much agency despite being directly responsible for patients and I imagine that starts to fuck with them mentally until they're like "yes this essential oil will definitely cardiovert them and Reiki is a thing."
because nursing is such an in-demand field, it seems like lots of people default into it as a career out of convenience. Not to detract from the field, but I've seen a lot of people fail career goals only to shrug and get into nursing... even folks in their 50's.
ITs not that they "get into" reiki.. they were already into it, but needed a better job.

depending on the nurse's character they tend to fit into one of three categories: they're an actual caring person who really does want to make a positive impact on others, they see the field as a vehicle to try shoving in their woo bullshit because reeeeeee modern western medicine, or they're just there because they thought it'd be easy and it's not like there's ever a shortage of cna/lpn positions anyways. so, if they were already crazy or smoothbrained to begin with, it won't be difficult to get from point a to b as far as being anti-vaxx goes.

Well it's a smart career move honestly. Home health RNs make absolute fucking ducats where I live. I don't know how else you'd be able to easily get into a $70/hr job.

They really will try anything except the vaccine, apparently. Fuck it, let them Darwin themselves out of the equation; it's not like they don't have access to all the information, at this point.

I'm surprised there haven't been more grifters selling fake cures. You can peddle anything to Q-boomers provided you fake enough evidence. This would be a serious way to make some money.

Or alternatively trolls could convince them that drinking piss will flush the virus out of their system

Willingly submit myself to
Typical envenomation symptoms include local swelling, petechiae, bruising and blistering of the affected limb, spontaneous systemic bleeding of the gums and into the skin, subconjunctival hemorrhage and incoagulable blood. The systemic symptoms can potentially be fatal and may involve hemostatic disorders, intracranial hemorrhage, shock, and kidney failure.[8]
to own the libs.

I should have clarified that I was mostly talking about RNs, not CNAs and the like. Anyone with a pulse and a brainstem can get through a CNA course, RN not so much.

I wouldn't say it's easy. It might only be an associate's degree but it's competitive to get in. Way back a friend told me a story about going to a RN info night because she had similar ideas about "good money + easy to get into" and then she left halfway through after the instructor talked about the requirements and said that not only is there a lot of math but that they'll kick you out of the course if you keep getting 95% instead of 100% on the math tests (since being 95% good at math means you might be fucking up the dosage of 1 in every 20 patients).

Hence my confusion, it's not a profession that lets idiots in but vaccines seem to morph a lot of them into idiots regardless.

You're right, that must definitely be an influence. Same reason a lot of terminally ill people get into it even if they should know better, because what the fuck else are they going to do?

Before, unmployment was bad. Now, there seems to be anti-vaxxers who want unemployment if they get fired over this mandate.

All those "Pay the Employed Instead" and "End the Benefits" memes are becoming "Proud Welfare Queen" flaunting. This is not winning, this is being a retarded hypocrite.

No manufactured widget is ever free. The cost comes from somewhere just like how the Takata airbag recall for my cars came out of Takata's coffers even though I didn't have to pay the dealership anything for the labor or replacement airbag.
Right, but if Ivermectin (which is also owned by big pharma, mind you) was this miracle covid cure, they'd just jack up the prices.

One of the vaccine companies is working on a preventative COVID drug which has the same mechanism as Ivermectin (protease inhibitor). Anti-vaxxers suspect this new drug will be put on the market at jacked up prices.
If it really worked, they'd already have jacked up the prices if they were as greedy as the anti-vax tards claim

Merck's clinical trial did not go well and now they're telling people not to take ivermectin. But that's just big pharma lies fed to the sheeple obviously.

The actual bad actor here is Regeneron, but nobody cares about that for whatever reason.

what really interests me about pandemic deniers is that so many of them are fundies or fundie-adjacent. they decry medical institutions and healthcare workers while also posturing all about how they have faith in god to save them instead, even though by their own logic it was god who put those things there to help them. it's literally just the drowning man parable on a global scale and the fact they can't see this just blows my fucking mind.

A fellow was stuck on his rooftop in a flood. He was praying to God for help.

Soon a man in a rowboat came by and the fellow shouted to the man on the roof, "Jump in, I can save you."

The stranded fellow shouted back, "No, it's OK, I'm praying to God and he is going to save me."

So the rowboat went on.

Then a motorboat came by. "The fellow in the motorboat shouted, "Jump in, I can save you."

To this the stranded man said, "No thanks, I'm praying to God and he is going to save me. I have faith."

So the motorboat went on.

Then a helicopter came by and the pilot shouted down, "Grab this rope and I will lift you to safety."

To this the stranded man again replied, "No thanks, I'm praying to God and he is going to save me. I have faith."

So the helicopter reluctantly flew away.

Soon the water rose above the rooftop and the man drowned. He went to Heaven. He finally got his chance to discuss this whole situation with God, at which point he exclaimed, "I had faith in you but you didn't save me, you let me drown. I don't understand why!"

To this God replied, "I sent you a rowboat and a motorboat and a helicopter, what more did you expect?"
