How many of my fellow Americans are calling for camps, celebrating the idea of punishing people who CAN'T get the vax (not just the people who won't, but the people who can't), who are celebrating the idea of preventing interstate travel, who are calling for vax papers.
You remember, in school, there was always that hippie girl that asked "but, like, WHY did everyone vote for fascism?"
She's now supporting people's civil rights being removed, the government getting involved in medical postions (except for her holy haunted uterus), people being stripped of their basic American rights, and villanizing her fellow Americans.
All these people are missing is a brown shirt or a swastika armband.

Here's the thing:
I honestly was considering getting it. I think the downsides are minimal. I'm worried about hypothetical impacts the vaccine might have on my immune system and the overall trajectory of the virus, but I'm as skeptical of the apocalyptic predictions as I am about the claims that it's 100% safe and 100% effective.
I could even get it and still stand against vaccine mandates and passports.
Except I actually can't.
It won't mean anything unless I'm willing to resist with my own body, on principle. At least personally.

I'm still sincerely glad you even though you got it, you're still willing to stand for bigger principles, but the road I'm looking at myself feels a lot less solid if I give in anyway then try to make noise. Because now that the screws are tightening, giving in for any reason is teaching them that the screws will work.

I've talked to others about state elections having their own electoral colleges, so that one blue county doesn't control the entire state. It wouldn't result in something like Nebraska where the votes are split, it's still winner-take-all, but it's not where the huge blue population center controls everything.
It wouldn't happen, as the states that need it would never do it, but it's something I've thought about.
