I'd argue bullying (not the "please don't wear diapers and walk your girlfriend around on a leash" variant, actual bullying) has gotten worse among younger crowds, even grown ass adults are acting more and more like they're still in high school sometimes from what I hear and experience. The main difference is that blatant fisticuffs and locker-shoving has been out of fashion, that's been zero tolerance for a few decades. A majority of bullying is now online and/or even more passive aggressive and two-faced. Take a look at online shaming and you'll notice how much it focuses on excluding and badmouthing the baddie until they either just give up and disappear, or commit suicide.
If you dealt with this yourself or had a friend/family member deal with it, this is just how girls have always bullied. Even bullying basically became effeminate, more or less, and while all bullying is demoralizing, the way girls bully each other is inhuman. No wonder suicide rates have gone up for younger crowds.
