YouTube Historians/HistoryTube/PopHistory

I think you missed the point, a middling history youtube unleashed an unhinged 14 point manifesto on the state of Afghanistan.

it's fucking bizarre
I honestly didn't find the points unhinged. If he had made the video it would be rather weird considering looking at his earlier content it would be completely out of character, but he seemed to have a moment of clarity and realized he didn't need to waste time on something that doesn't fit at all with his usual subject matter

Youtube is conservative because they claim the Black Panthers were a "violent criminal organization".

The whole democracy experiment was ridiculous from the beginning. A more realistic approach would be to gather the tribal leaders and have them come to agreement towards a international representative. The push towards women in leadership positions was also very unpopular, would have been better to simply accept that Afghanistan had a different culture and instead let foreign influence try to soften the culture by generations rather than immediate globohomo
Afghanistan's culture can be fixed. However, it will never be fixed by foreigners who have to do it at gunpoint. The Occupation's of Japan and Germany were successful because the majority of local leaders were fine with the reforms and had earned the respect of their respective countries citizens despite losing the war. The Afghanistan of the 1960s and 70s had so much potential, but only because of its leaders. 21st Century Afghanistan had especially terrible leadership simply because they were cronies selected by foreigners.

Caspian Report is a good geopolitics and history channel.

The Caspian Report is fine but I remember that the guy behind it is an Azeri patriot so take whenever he talks about Azerbaijan, Iran, Armenia, Turkey, Russia, and Isreal with a grain of salt.

Also Whatifalthist is now making a prediction let's see where thing go....

HistorywithHilbert is a good channel. Here is a video where he discusses an attempt to cancel his university program.
HistorywithHilbert is a cool dutch guy, I remember first seeing him when he did those Zwarte Piete defense videos

Also JustThefacts has made a response video to Whatifalthists' video

I mostly find Mark Felton's videos uninteresting. They're fairly slap dash reading from curious topics he finds on wikipedia, but it most infuriate the youtube hobby historians who think post war history is nazi revisionism that some british guy brings in a million to half a million views on 10 minute videos of the sort of topics you would find on the history channel

I like to read and study the world wars myself. but i find mark felton a good time waster when its about something super strange you did not know before. like the inmates at Nuremburg being guarded by Latvian SS soldiers.

A little late but some historytube guy that I've never heard of until now is retiring. let's see how long this lasts.
This dude seems really cringe so nothing of value was lost.

A channel I would recommend would be moth light media. He has such of a soothing voice. I consider the topic of prehistory to be close to history and I like Dinosaurs and the other pre-historic animals. I know there is an educational youtube thread somewhere on here on kiwifarms but I can't seem to find it.

For the biological/zoological derrailing:
E.D.G.E: Profile pieces on extinct, alive, or cryptid critters, paleontologists and fossil stories. The main guy plants memes in his scripts like they are bear traps and I have to say I like this mildly shitpost delivery.

Chaotic Good/Your Dinosaurs are Wrong: A grown man picks a dino toy and rips its design apart with scientific data.

Ben G. Thomas: Profile pieces on animals, scientific breakthroughs and minireviews of documentaries. I really like when they talk about spec evolution.

And I like about 3/4 out of PBS Eons, somehow the less cucked show they have. Fuck you Hank Green.

Also, I can sperg for hours about speculative zoology if anyone is interested.

I wonder if those were written by the old Spanish narrator or the stuffy-nosed Anglo. The Spanish Empire series was almost Unbiased History: Spain in terms of how much it lionized the 16th century Spaniards, so maybe he's just taking an opportunity to bash the Anglo world order that broke the back of his favourite country.
really pretentious and very little substance, plus a lot of amateurish speculation.

so a typical whatifalthist video.
I remember someone in his own comments section said he had "The arrogance of an Italian, and the bluntness of a German", but I can't find it anymore. I think half of his appeal is like Styxhexenhammer's, the ability to say the most sweeping, outrageous shit in a completely deadpan, matter-of-fact way. It's one thing to hear Alex Jones yelling about chicken-neck nellies, it's another to hear a guy who looks and sounds like he collects Funko Pops talking about how Lobsters and frogposters will inherit North America after leftie technocrats purity spiral themselves out of power in the same tone as a high school teacher reading from a textbook.

At least that's half of why I watch every new upload.

Would've been based if instead of an autistic manifesto he made the video.

I said this in the Taliban Offensive thread but the US policy of democracy spreading is a massive shame from it's inception. Afghanistan for example had a very popular exiled king (His exile was the result of his dipshit power hungry cousin taking power while he was abroad for medical reasons and declaring a republic) who was very popular among the tribal groups in the country. Had we let his candidate and the monarchists who wanted him back win the election we would've been better off, but instead Hamid Karzai 'won' and established a US backed regime. Afghanistan would've been far better off as a semi-democratic monarchy with tribal loyalties to the king.

He is pretty good, have you seen his recent Afghanistan videos?

He gets his understanding of events from Swedish Map Games most likely. I mean yes, Vicky 2's economy is complex but I'm not an econ master for getting the money line to go green.

The leaded gasoline theory is silly btw.

I enjoyed this persons videos, but the videos were retarded and not all that informative. However, they're good if you want to relax with dumb puns.

One last thing has anyone seen a video by Dan Davis Author? If so what do you think about him?
Very cozy videos to binge. Bronze age northern Europe is a subject overlooked amongst history youtubers in favor of the eastern Mediterranean and its very relaxing to listen about not wars or violence but just small communities of villagers whose names have been lost to the mists of time making pretty pottery and eating everything that both moves and doesn't move.

This guy is definitely the God at creating content about the bronze age. Not familiar with the period, but the production value is high and he cites sources.
