Imagine having a PhD so useless you would contribute more to society by flipping burgers at your local Wendy's or something. Assistant Professor is basically the lowest on the rung of professorship in the US but it does mean there's a chance this loon could move up the ladder and get tenure.

Probably an unpopular opinion but I'm fine with people getting whatever degree they want and doing whatever kind of societal or gender research, so long as it adheres to proper methodology and produces something. Not every researcher is gonna hit that holy grail and change the world, very few are, but people need to explore their curiosities to make unexpected discoveries.

What's retarded is these people tend to think they are smarter and more important than cancer researchers and astrophysicists by substituting research methods and ingenuity with what can realistically be called shit posting on the internet. It's the equivalent of me or you claiming our posts on kiwi farms are of the highest societal importance, saving lives, and carrying the world into a glorious utopia.

"Imposter syndrome" is essentially just "being insecure", which almost everyone feels from time to time, especially at the start of your career. It's fairly normal, and people who *don't* feel this are typically the overconfident know-all assholes. This person was born in 1999 and is 22; who wasn't insecure in their job when they were 22? Hell, who here even had a successful career at that age in the first place?

No doubt at some point it really becomes a "syndrome"; everyone is depressed from time to time, which isn't the same as proper clinical depression, but a lot of the times when "imposter syndrome" is thrown around it just seems like a fancy word to say "help help, I'm being oppressed! Come see the violence inherent in the system!"

And who hasn't felt somewhat paranoid about being treated unfairly at times? Sometimes it's true, usually it's not. But we tell ourselves we're being silly and knock it off instead of having an entire community validate every random paranoid thought our brain cooks up.

It's also externalizing your own problems to others. Sure, environment is important and plays a factor, but that's not easy to change. You should first look towards yourself before blaming everything else. Not because other people or the other environment doesn't deserve blame (often they do), but that's not an easy fix and this is the most constructive path forward *for yourself* in most cases.

If you push this to the extreme you end up with something like the Incel people by the way. I think a lot of men can kind-of understand their struggles with the opposite gender as we've all had them. The difference is that normal people don't blame women for that but see what we can do better *ourselves*.

In short, I find it all pretty toxic.

That's kind of the problem, though. Anyone who actually does real research at least at a soft science level of methodology gets demonized and vilified and driven out of the field. Almost all of this shit just starts with the desired conclusion and just massages the data (if they even bother with data) to get it to "prove" whatever woke bullshit du jour is in fashion.

God forbid you actually do hard science showing measurable differences between the sexes.

The entire academia field is a racket. Everyone is jockeying for crap gigs at shit-tier schools where they can work on shit research for shit money and zero respect. The stench of failure is the most significant feature of the academic.

Oddly enough, the sciences are worse off than the humanities. Science has endless boards of obese colored haired white women overseeing everything. The humanities? There are sane book publishers, professors and journal editors who will allow you to thrive.
