you gotta admit though, 3 was fun to play even if it wasn't as good as 2. i didn't play 4 but that also looked fun. then there was that one in hell that i didn't see much about, but i imagine it's probably way better than this. i'm not sure if the story writers going too far is enough to justify why this game looks so crap, there's got to be a lot more behind the scenes that we don't know about

Tell me if this was posted here but it ties into the whole autism around r/gaming and r/gamingcirclejerk.

Relevant parts are 5:30 to 9:35. People got pissed about a remake of saints row starring not the game's original cast of characters, hardened gangsters, or even existing in the same location, a fictionalized inner city, but replacing the cast with a bunch of fresh out of college friends who are every stereotype of 'millenial'. The plot is then set out as them needing to pay off their student loans so they become gangsters. That's it. A lot more details in the saints row thread.

But back to the point, gamingcirclejerk got mad that in the subreddit for saints row fans, actual fans were getting mad at this redesign and on top of that the dev team was pissing all over the community and doing typical ignore the haters nonsense. Then suddenly the attitude there starts to shift, and there's a bunch of posts making fun of the people who actually cared about the plot of the first four games in the series (or at least the first two). Lo and behold it's a bunch of retards from gamingcirclejerk invading the subreddit and acting like they've been fans for years. You even have some of them having posted stuff relevant to older games in the series just a few days before doing this as to establish some sort of legitimacy for being there. It's pretty sad how much effort these guys put in just to defend random companies that don't care about them. They've been at this for weeks now.

The characters in the original games (starting in 2, but really extreme by 3) were already deeply unlikeable stereotypes and the writers dove head-first into ridiculous farce at every opportunity. That was practically the series' whole shtick.

The astroturfing is obviously shitty, but I just can't be bothered to get annoyed over a merely okay GTA-clone series that isn't even old enough to warrant a re-make in the first place.

I've played both 3 and 4 and both were pretty fun. 4's plot was stupid, but it knew it was stupid, so it had fun with it if you know what I mean.

Saints Row 3 is better than Saints Row 2. 2 relies far too much on LOL WEED BRO 420 shit and 90s nostalgia and has aged atrociously, people say they want a remaster of 2 because they know deep down it doesn't hold up at all.

I'd argue that killing off Johnny Gat like that was one of the most forward thinking and legit great twists I've seen in the franchise and of course, they retcon it after so many pissbabies complain.

They do it because it's easy. The franchise is already established, as well as the character. They don't need to make up a complex and believable backstory, they don't need to figure out character traits or personalities or weaknesses/strengths. They don't even need to build a universe that both supports and opposes the characters. They don't need lore or mythos, or need to think about minute points of interests. By slapping a new coat of paint on an established character, they can claim they're being diverse when in reality, it's simple blackwashing.

And thus, that's why the people that cry for diversity doesn't make stories about actual African heroes. I remember there used to be a man named Mansa Musa - an African king who was the richest man who ever lived. It must be super racist for producers and such to not make stories about his life. Surely they have loads of materials they can work with - it doesn't have to be purely historical.

Diversity through laziness is pretty much par for the course nowadays, and it helps that the kind of people obsessed with diversity are naturally the laziest fucks in existence.

Take league for example. 10 years ago, they wiped all their lore, which was basically cobbled together and campy, to make it "better and more consistent" Two of the characters were basically Jihadis for their respective religion, one of which genocided the other.

Reboot: Same but now they gay for each other.

Wheel of Time? Literally every starting main character has brown hair and brown eyes but ONE, because he's a red headed bastard child and doesn't know it. Live action? Main cast is a sampling dish from around the world.

Wheel of Time. Written by a dude who grew up in the Deep South. I'm sure this will handle the part where one of the main chicks gets enslaved and likes it REALLY well. That happens twice by the way.

A few years ago I called a reddit mod a faggot and he modded me. Fast forward a few months and I found myself in the cabal who had a slack server provided by admins so that the chosen few coule have immediate direct access to them.

I have many stories that are not that interesting because they would confirm what you all already know.

There was a time where one of the most powerful powermods had a constant cycle of young men who she would mod on dozens of subs at once, including defaults, and then take over their accounts to help them gain entry to the century club.

After a few months these young men would totally burn out and delete their accounts.

However a few became incredibly powerful overnight. As ridiculous as reddit is, the ability to influence opinion and suffocate dissent across a handful of subs has significant impact both on and off reddit.

When you see a blackout being organised, it is about ensuring the cabal retains its power.

I always felt that the moderator system was so easily manipulated and infiltrated that its the cabal moderators who pose the most risk, not some wrongthink mong.

Edit. Forgot to mention i also went on an all expenses paid boat trip with Steve and a load of other mods where i got drunk on free whisky and they sent me an amazon voucher afterwards to say thank you.

Maybe those people actually exist, but to me Saints Row seems like such an intentionally paper-thin premise that no one could be so attached to it. It's about as consequential as retconning the story in a Mario game.

I can't think or find a specific example at the moment, but I've browsed subreddits for games I'm interested in and degenerates in the comments always openly talk about the most deranged sexual things they want to do to characters, even when the original post is innocent. I know they aren't real people, but the way they objectify female and underage characters still weirds me out, these people have some serious sexual frustration.
