That guitar gives me nightmares. LOLI think most guitar players have probably seen this, but this tends to be one of my go to examples of how unnecessary like 90% of an electric guitar is. This is a Gittler guitar. It is totally functional and you can buy it right now (for $7495):

That's the essence of an electric guitar. You need a straight neck, level frets, pickups that aren't made of scrap metal, tuners that will at least kind of hold their pitch, and strings that aren't pure rust. You can just leave the wood out entirely.
That's why electric guitar collection is such a strong sign of blind consoomerism: because in truth aside from aesthetics and the feel of the instrument, they're almost all identical. Plus usually these same people will have some dirt cheap acoustic instruments lying around as an afterthought, even though that's where investment actually pays off.
What really gets me is that if you look at boomers in particular, they're always huge fans of blues/southern rock shit, pentatonic scales are like catnip for weird old white men who desperately want to be hip. Yet they're also the ones who will turn their noses up the second you start playing on an inexpensive instrument and it's like...my man, what the fuck do you think the broke black guys you idolize were playing on back in the day?
This was the first solid body electric guitar, created by Les Paul in 1940. It's a 2 foot piece of 4x4 with a neck stuck to it and some pickups he wound himself. The two tan colored guitar halves on each side are totally nonfunctional, they're just there to make it look pretty. Les paul played this on recordings and for live audiences to great reception, yet apparently you can't sound good without a $5k setup? Alright.

PS: sorry for all the instrument talk, other people. I know it's probably annoying for those who don't play.
To be fair, all it takes is one look at the tard baby thread to get the feeling that when actual small human beings are often treated as social media props that are discarded when they're no longer useful, that just using plants as social media props is pretty admirable by comparison.
While yes, this is the bare minimum to make a guitar, the bodies do matter for a couple of things. The first and most important thing is stability. If you play electric guitar you've probably heard of neckdive. Some players avoid models like the SG because they tend to neckdive easily. Nowadays most models go for the stability of something like the Stratocaster. But for me who have conditioned my body to the classical style position. I just can't fucking play with them, I need a V model or the ML (Which i own both, one 6 stringed and one 8 stringed). These can have neckdives too but it's just not a problem for me. And so, guitar players usually go for a body that feels good to play with and I'm not sure this thing can make it for most people. Second would be weight, when you play for a long time you get accustomed to a certain weight. Some players do need lighter guitars because heavier guitars can just start fucking up your body. But that nightmare guitar honestly looks too light, It just looks uncomfortable to play with. Specially counting the third thing, the neck. That tiny fucking neck looks impossible to play with. Your hand moves differently around the neck depending on which string+fret+finger you're playing in. I just can't imagine playing stable with such a small space to move. Also necks can vary in their shape and I'm not sure if that tiny neck could work if you add more strings.
While I agree with you with boomer takes on guitars. The new generations are also equally dumb when it comes to downtunning and playing 8 strings, or 9 strings. OR FUCK IT, Make ridiculous 20 stringed guitars where you can't play the fucking thing.
The fuck is this shit. OMG so Brvtal! Fucking faggots.
I'm sure there's like a %0.000001 of players who could use this right. But please, stop.
Also fuck amp nerds/collectors. You don't need that many amps dude. What are you doing. If you think dusting off your old consoles to play retro games is annoying, try changing amps. Unless you work in a recording studio, keep all of your bandmates equipment on your house or some shit like that, why would you need so many? They do sound different I'll give them that. But fuck off, you're not using them all.
